Denman Island United Church 22.11.2020

TED HICKS will join us Sunday Morning 10:30 and sends this: Good morning everyone It is a lovely morning here in East Courtenay where we live. Tammy and I just returned from a walk in our nearby woods.... The forecast for tomorrow morning is looking promising for our gathering outside the church around the labyrinth at our usual time of 10:30. Our Covid protocols, of course, are still in effect: no singing, safe distancing, masking when needed, no shared food or beverages, and personal responsibility not to come if you have symptoms or have been recently in contact with someone who has or if you have recently returned from out of country. There will be access to the building to use the washroom - with special protocols for entering the building. And, if the weather dictates, we will move inside for our gathering, with safe distancing inside and with masks provided (or bring your own). Please bring your own chair or blanket for our outside gathering - and anything else you might need in anticipation of the weather and its unpredictability. Again, in lieu of our usual practice of lighting candles for our prayers, I will be inviting you to place a shell or a stone in the labyrinth during our prayer time. I will have a small supply on hand but if you wish to bring something that you have collected yourself, please feel free. I will be bringing, for example, one stone I collected from the banks of the South Saskatchewan River on our recent trip to Saskatoon. For those of you unable to attend, I will be sending on a full text of the Service tomorrow afternoon. Stay safe, be kind, come if you can. Ted

HI Folks, This is your invitation to our Sunday Gathering at 10:30 a the Community Labyrinth at Denman United Church. I'll be leading a group exploration into the theme of the Sacred Fool. Is spirituality a serious matter? What place does PLAY have in our dance with Spirit? ... In addition to my own thoughts I'll be bringing in the voices of Bill Plotkin, Ken Wilber, Hafiz, Rumi and Jesus. You're welcome to bring a story, quote or poem to add to the mix! This gathering is open to everyone and is by donation. Also, PLEASE BRING SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU SMILE. It could be a goofy hat, a funny picture, or a weird snack combo. Feel free to dress up in something colourful or PLAYFUL. In COVID-style, We'll be meeting outside, and keeping our physical distance. Please bring your own chairs, sun protection, and refreshments. I hope to see you there. Any questions please call or text me at 250-702-7784 as I will not be on my emails this weekend. Warmly, Celeste

This numbered print by Don Yeaomans (Helping Hands) barely made it onto the back wall of the United Church before it was purchased for a donation. Thanks Laura Pope for supporting our ‘Art From The Attic’ fundraiser.

Hi Folks! Denman Island's Community Labyrinth awaits your contemplative walk. Add a marker stone if you like. Located on the United Church front lawn this ancient meditation tool is a great way to centre and ground, to still the internal chatter and listen to our quiet inner voice.
