Congratulations to Morgan Ketler, from The Vaughan Team at our Hamilton office, for his fundraising efforts in the Niagara community. Last week Morgan participated for the 5th consecutive year in the Hotel Dieu Shaver Celebrity Ice Cup in Niagara Falls. This is an annual fundraising hockey tournament played to benefit the Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehab Centre. Morgan personally raised $2075, ranking 10th in fundraising out of 210 participants. This year the tournament raised $220,000 and over $1,000,000 over the past five years. Well done, Morgan and thanks to those on our DFSIN team for continued support!

Last month, Blair Laxdale, financial advisor, from our financial centre in Hamilton, ON celebrated 50 years with our firm. Blair started with the company on Aug. 15, 1969. For those of you who dont remember, or werent even born, that was the opening day of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair known simply as Woodstock. Perhaps, Blair felt it was just some music festival that no one would ever remember. Over his 50 years with the company, Blair would make his own notable hist...ory. He had many years of top awards with Eaton Financial Services, Laurentian Financial Services and the Imperial Life Assurance Company all of these are former names of our organisation. For 21 straight years he was in the top ten of the Presidents Club, and in 1990 he was the number one advisor for the entire company. Blair continues to serve his clients with his vast knowledge, experience and gentle charm. We were proud sponsors at the annual Cops N Rodders Hamilton community car show on Sunday, Aug. 25. Hosted by members of the Hamilton Police Service and community supporters, the event serves as a fund raiser for the Law Enforcement Torch Run in Support of the Special Olympics. This year, the festive event brought in over 750 classic and unique roadsters from around the region. Managing director Shawn Smith, who oversees many DFSIN locations, loves the event. My sister was a... Team Canada swimmer who earned several international gold medals in the Special Olympics, says Shawn. So, this cause is meaningful; it reminds me to push past our perceived limitations. Clarke Duncanson, a sales manager at the Hamilton location, attended the event with his family. As a parent with a young son with special needs, its heart-warming to see a community come together. Thanks to officers of the Hamilton Police Service for hosting an important event.
