My newest friend Chewbacca... He made me really work today at earning his trust, but he came around and enjoyed some belly rubs by the end of our first session together. His family are first time dog owners and are getting help with all aspects of training, so we can help Chewby be the best little guy he can be. ... It was a wonderful way to spend a very warm November Sunday morning. Thank you to his family for choosing me to be part of his learning process. #cockapoosofinstagram #dogsofhamont #ancasterontario #hamiltondogtrainer #ancasterdogtraining

Coop killin' his walk with the Transitional leash. It's a #gamechanger for him. We did some e-collar recall training tonight. This guy is smart as a whip, but so is his mum so she is on her training game. Check our story for more training clips of Cooper... #dogsofinstagram #ilikebigmutts #hamiltondogtrainer #hamiltondogtraining #balancedtraining #ecollartechnologies

E-Collar conditioning with Steve! You have to know Steve to know how awesome this is. Despite being adorable, Steve will (and previously has) attack other dogs if he gets loose. ... We are utilizing the e-collar training to help keep him engaged and also to develop a bomb proof recall, because in his case it is absolutely % necessary that there is a failsafe. Steve is oddly very chill at home, when people come by, his demeanor doesn't change, he doesn't get excited, he's just almost always the same, and thats super calm and usually sleeping. So it really really impressed me tonight that we were able to bring some fun life into that body of his, and even cooler that it was through an E-Collar conditioning session. Notice in the first clip how we are helping him succeed in the recall by using the long line to apply pressure (giving him more information other than verbal command and ecollar stim), but a few repetitions afterwards we didn't need to apply the leash to help him. He had a great time, and his mum did great keeping him excited and happy about training. #ecollartraining #ecollartechnologies #hamiltondogtraining #burlingtondogtrainer #dharmadogs #rescuedogsofinstagram #potcakesofinstagram

Here's our pal Steve when I first met him, and now on our third session. During our second session together we did some prong collar conditioning. So that is simply teaching him how to turn the pressure (sensation from the collar) off. This is the result when you take the time to teach the dog first and use the tool to help. ... If you simply just slap on the collar and expect it to do all of the work, its not entirely fair to the dog because you haven't taken the steps to teach him what to do to turn the pressure off. In the case of collar conditioning, he knows the moment he gives in to the leash direction, the pressure from the collar comes off. Check out our next video of Steve doing some e-collar conditioning!

**TRANSITIONAL LEASH** Quick easy way to change up your walking/training tool. Take your slip leash, make a figure 8 under their neck and flip it up over the snout. ... Then adjust up behind the ears, and clip on your safety. **Always use a safety backup with a prong collar or slip lead, you can use a halti strap or carabiner to attach the ring on the leash to the dogs collar, or if using a prong collar attach from the D Ring to the collar** Please make sure to teach your dog how to turn the pressure off. If we don't teach them that, we are asking the tool to do the training for us, and that simply doesn't work. I sent this quickly to client dog @douglasthedoggo last night, just a little value add for my clients - they get to watch weird videos of me in my pajamas when my kid finally goes to sleep #dogtraininghamilton #hamiltondogtraining #burlingtondogtraining #rescuedogsofinstagram #cattledogsofinstagram #hamiltondogtrainer #transitionalleash #firmbutfair #dharmadogstraining

Friends, Bullies in Need is still searching for appropriate foster homes for these dogs. If you're in Hamilton area, I'll help with behaviour/training. Not a good idea with small kids. I have a small kid and know what it's like to try to control their impulses. Not fair to the dogs. ... No other pets right now is also ideal. If anyone can help, please contact them, and then let me know if approved and I will help you through.
