This past Sunday was New Year’s Eve on the church calendar. The end of the church year. On New Year’s Eve in secular society it is customary to gather together for a celebration in anticipation of a new and better year. To make resolutions committing ourselves to a better way of living. In the upcoming Advent time, the time of waiting and watching, we often wish for a white Christmas. But maybe what we really want is a green Christmas. An environmentally friendly Christmas.... Advent is a time of reflection and hope, seeing the possibilities. Dreaming of and praying for a just recovery that includes a green recovery. This Thursday, as we celebrate the end of the old year and move into Advent, let’s resolve to: - review the resolution at Synod 2019 & the actions we have taken in 2020 as we call for a better or just recovery - collect information on what environmental and other groups have been able to accomplish in 2020 - discuss how we can (and do) effectively influence people in our churches and other organizations we are involved with - how we can work together to ensure a better and just recovery - craft a green resolution for 2021 for us as a community of people who care about creation, for the church and the broader community To obtain the link Email Rev Marian at [email protected] In peace and solidarity, Marian
