DIY 3-LETTER WORD SEARCH . We are definitely fans of word searches, and we have done some more complex ones in the past for sure! Sometimes I like to throw in an activity that is tricky enough to help with reinforcement, but easy enough that it builds confidence for my kids! . I picked 9, simple 3 letter words that my 4 year old can already read for this one ... When we make word searches, i always start by determining the size of the grid and then plotting the words first, filling in the blanks last i used some extra scrap paper to cut out some word searching goggles with 3 circles to move around the grid while searching (completely unnecessary but an added element of fun) . MEASURING USING BODIES . Introducing measurements to Kinders is a fun process that will have them measuring things everywhere they go! We put a fun spin on the activity by using large scale paper to trace eachother and then measure the bodies with u lnconventional tools found around the house. Its a great way to introduce the concept of Estimating and Hypothesizing too! . Roll out some paper (wrapping paper recycled from the holidays will work great!) And have your c...hild lay flat on the paper while you trace around them Once they are traced, have them use different materials to measure their bodies and record their findings: ie: "I am 14 straws tall, I am 45 toothpicks tall) Use unconventional materials to measure different items around the house or flip over the paper and have them trace you too! . Materials Pencil and Paper to record your findings Unconventional measuring materials, such as cubes, pencils, toothpicks, straws etc. Large Scale Paper (recycled wrapping paper works well!) See more
