#Repost @kimsaira with @make_repost Normalize asking people for their pronouns! It’s transgender awareness week, and we are celebrating our non-binary, genderqueer, gender non-confirming, agender, bigender community, and everyone in between!!... That being said, asking for someone’s pronouns so you now how to refer to that person should already be a normal thing to do, But it still needs to be pushed & normalized in places like workplaces and schools! Especially because of the discrimination that trans people commonly face! According to the National Center for Transgender Equality, more than ONE IN FOUR transgender people have lost their jobs due to bias, And more than 3/4ths have experienced workplace discrimination! These rates are even higher if you are Black or a POC. We need to stop assuming peoples’ genders based on our own assumptions, because only they know how they identify. And we need to respect that, PERIODT In addition, you cannot assume someone is transgender based on your own assumptions. It is impossible to look around a room & assume that someone is transgender. You should assume that there may be transgender people at any space or gathering you are in! This is why referring to and respecting everyone’s pronouns is SO important! When introducing yourself to new people, and you don’t know their pronouns yet, you can use this example: Hi, my name is Kim, and my pronouns are she/her/hers! What about you? If someone is still exploring their gender identity and use a name and pronoun and then decide later on to change it, respect it and use the new name and pronoun! Respect the terminology that a trans person uses to identify themselves! They may use different terms to describe their experiences. If someone isn’t sure what identity label fits them best, give them time to figure it out & don’t tell them what term you think they should use! You wouldn’t want your identity being defined by others! At meetings or events, set a more inclusive tone by identifying people by the colors of their clothing, rather than examples like, woman/man in the back! See more

November 20th is World Children’s Day. We celebrate today to promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide, and for improving children's welfare. The UN issued a statement saying that the costs of the pandemic for children are immediate and, if unaddressed, may last a lifetime. It’s time for generations to come together to reimagine the type of world we want to create. On 20 November, kids will reimagine a better world. #worldchildrensday #worldchildrensday2020 #children #childrenarethefuture #childrensday #celebrate #protect

#Repost @igototherapy with @make_repost mental health is not exclusive to those who are experiencing mental illnesses; we all have mental health, and we all need to pay attention to it! we firmly believe that mental health should be a topic that can be naturally brought into the conversation - mental health or mental illnesses are nothing to be ashamed about.... we believe that talking about them is one of the best ways of normalizing mental health and mental health issues - so that seeing a therapist would be as normal as seeing a doctor, or a personal trainer at the gym. do you think talking about mental health or mental illness is still taboo? why / why not? how can you normalize talking about mental health?
