I didn't know that Ricky Lee did this sort of thing. Thanks Jethro Haynes for sharing ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7UuuUku5E8
And now for something completely different : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gQSLP1rN8E
We (The Django Djunkies) had the good fortune to play at Banjo Cider yesterday (behind plexi - glass with physical distancing and masks). What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Attendees enjoyed a beautiful fall country drive to a location in the rolling hills of Uxbridge. A variety of ciders were available and I enjoyed the 'Citizens Cider' - made from apples contributed by people in the community. This was a tart cider but they also have sweet cider. The audience were hip and there was a good collection of motorcycles and vintage cars in the parking lot. Apparently this is similar to events in BC - North of Vancouver - folks heading out to a winery, brewery, farm ... to enjoy an afternoon of music, fellowship and fresh local food and beverages - very cool ! https://www.banjocider.ca/
I think this is a neat list of popular songs from the 30s. The Django Djunkies cover a number of them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_1930s_jazz_standards
Well, we're starting to get gigs again (yay !). This Saturday, July 25th we'll be at The Galluci Winery on 9th Line in Stouffville. We'll be outdoors and there will be wine (of course) and wood oven pizza. You know those European movies where they eat outdoors among the vines ? It will be kinda like that. We're playing in the afternoon for to hours between 12:30 and 4:30. When we get the exact time nailed down I'll post an 'event'. We will not be singing and we will be observing physical distancing and wearing masks when appropriate. Reservations are a MUST at Galluci Winery. https://www.gallucciwinery.com/
This is a bit dated (Kathy is no longer with us) but it is representative of what we do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuEVK97Dm04&t=2955s

While we are on a holding pattern regarding rehearsals and gigs, we are rehearsing individually and enjoying recordings such as this one : https://www.youtube.com/watch
A couple of our band members like to get to this whenever we can. I'll be heading down this year with Deborah - she'll be exploring fibre arts in the area while I take classes and jam. It's a lovely setting - Northhampton, MA.
