Some news for our real estate clients to make life a little easier: To assist Albertans with self-isolation and social distancing during the spread of COVID-19, the Government of Alberta is temporarily allowing the registration of Land Titles documents that have been witnessed, sworn or affirmed by Alberta lawyers using two-way teleconferencing. We welcome this temporary exception from the Government which allows us to continue to provide a high level of service to our clients.

The Court of Queen’s Bench and Provincial Court are increasing in-person hearings effective July 6, 2020. To enhance safe access to Alberta courthouses, all persons entering a courthouse in Alberta shall be required to wear a face mask while in any public area of the courthouse (with certain exceptions). So if you have to be in court, please bring your own mask, or if you don’t have one, you will be provided with one upon entering the courthouse. You may know that it is an offence to drive without insurance on your vehicle in Alberta. However, did you know where you are in an accident with a driver who has no insurance or by a hit-and-run driver, you may be compensated for your damages and injuries by the Alberta Government’s Motor Vehicle Accident Claims Fund? Read more about the MVAC Fund/Program to see if you qualify: https://justice.alberta.ca//Docu/MVAC-Resource-Booklet.pdf And of course, if you need further assistance, feel free to contact our office to schedule a consultation with one of our experienced lawyers by calling 780-539-6200.
