Hi All, I hope you are keeping well and happy during this crazy COVID time. A friend and colleague Christopher Wilson has been very busy creating some great online programming, interviewing Canadian Performers and inviting them to perform on his show. His is hosting this with his friend and colleague Ryan Kelly. ... I've been asked to perform, and chat with these fine gents on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. (April 15th). This is being done as a fundraiser for AFC The Actor's Fund of Canada, to help Artists in need, both during this COVID 19 time and in tough times before COVID. Strange times - some thoughts Hello dear people, Earlier this month, I sent out an email with my "Covid lesson plan". Clearly much has changed since then. I know that many of you have had your income decimated, as I have. I completely understand if you don't want to have any sessions right now because of finances. However, if you do want to work with me, and can't pay my regular rate because you've lost work, please talk to me, and we will find a way. I mean that. ... I am only teaching online now, as you might imagine. I'm using whatever platform the singer is most comfortable with. Some options are FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, and Facebook Messenger Video. I have become even more comfortable with online coachings/lessons as I've been finishing up the term online with my Sheridan students, in addition to the students I have been coaching online for the last two years. It is doable, and it is so rewarding. Gosh, I love to teach. I love to make music. And I love working with all of you. That will never change. Please don't hesitate to get in touch. Hi All, Just a note to let you know of the upcoming performance class dates. They are: Wednesday Nov. 27th from 12-3 p.m.... Thursday Dec. 5th 12-3 p.m. Please let me know if you'd like to join us. Note: I am also open to other days or times; just talk to me. Class details are as follows: The Garner Studio Performance Class is a down-to-earth, positive group environment for performers of all ages and abilities to practice the craft of music theatre performance. Singers perform 1-2 songs with a live accompanist/coach in a group setting with the focus on text communication, and it's relationship to vocal technique. Regular Rate for single classes - $30 to sing, and $15 to audit the class. (Audit meaning watch and participate in any discussion). Discounted rate for multiple classes paid in advance - $100 for 4 classes to sing, and $40 for 4 classes to audit the class. You choose your dates from the list, commit to the time and pay in advance. And you can switch out one date for another available date if something comes up. In addition, if you recommend the class to someone and they show an interest, I'll let them audit their first class for free. AND, if they join the class and perform, you will get your next class for half price. My goal to offer an affordable rate for folks that still want to study and enjoy the class dynamic. But I also want to know in advance that there are enough people coming to make the class effective for everyone. Personally, I'll teach a class to two people, but I think it is a better dynamic for the performer to have a larger group to sing for, and talk with afterwards. Hi All, I need two more for class on Thursday (May 23rd) from 12:30-3:30. There'll be one more class in May on the 30th and then I'll be away for two weeks examining for the Royal Conservatory (June 3-14). ... So...if you do want a class or a lesson, please get in touch soon. Also, I can do Skype or FaceTime lesson while I'm away examining (June 3-14), but only in the evenings. I think we'll wind back on performance class in June and July; I'll do a class every two weeks during those months. Let me know if you have days or evenings that might work best and I'll schedule accordingly. No class in August at all; I'm away doing a show until mid-September. More about that later.
