Yesterday, I got to take a sneak peak tour of Edison Properties new development downtown, Smith Street Lofts at 185 Smith Street. . . Swipe to see some sweet views from the top level and check out my stories (will be saved as a Highlight) for details on this unique development, which features efficient 1 & 2 bedroom suites (54 of them are 2-level lofts!) adaptable and penthouse suites! .... Smith Street Lofts is also unusual in that akmanconstruction and Edison Properties Ltd are completely changing an existing building and not demolishing and rebuilding. It’s the ultimate in reuse/recycle! . . I popped in to Hargrave St. Market at True North Square to check out their indoor dining set-up! If you’re downtown, this is a great space to take a working lunch for someone like me, who lives alone & wants a change of scenery in a safe, clean space. Bonus - delish food!

Tonight’s take out by Plain Bicycle - Friday Edition! I pre-ordered take out from Capital Grill Broadway. How have I never tried the Capital Burger? Oh wow! It’s so so good! Served on a toasted, buttered brioche... *chef’s kiss* Thanks Chef Wayne & crew!

I did some gift shopping with Forks Trading Company and arranged for curbside pickup outside at The Forks! So convenient! Before heading out, I preordered Winnipeg’s best fish and chips from Fergies Fish and Chips and picked them up for an early dinner! Thanks to my new-old Plain Bicycle for being the best errand running bike ever! ... Check out the absolutely adorable mice ornaments I picked up for some adorable friends! Yesterday I went to visit downtown’s brand new breakfast and lunch spot, Modern Electric Lunch! Located in the Fortune Block - the same building as iconic blues can Times Change(d) High & Lonesome Club - this sweet spot is now open for take out and pickup. I preordered my lunch online at www.Melunch.ca and let them know in the notes when I’d be by to grab my goodies! ... I had the best egg salad sandwich I’ve ever eaten in my life, a side Waldorf salad, a delicious piece of cake (which I saved for dinner - don’t judge me!) and a house-made nut milk mocha. Everything is so fresh and delicious! Next time you’re downtown, grab a treat from Modern Electric Lunch - located at 232 Main Street.

BIKE APPRECIATION POST . If you’ve been following me for a little while, you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of bikes and biking - year ‘round! . I’ve had a fat bike for 3 (going into the 4th) winters and I love it...but it’s just not practical for running errands...... . Enter my new-old bike! The folks at Plain Bicycle (a project of Winnipeg Trails bring in these great workhorse bikes from the Netherlands (Dutch bikes!) and I picked one up! . Prepare for lots of photos in my stories of me using this bike to get out and about downtown and pick up take out, curbside shopping - you name it! . This week, I’ve biked around downtown to look at Christmas lights, picked up flowers from Freshcut Downtown in Portage Place Shopping Centre some vodka from Baltic Bros Infusions at Manitoba Liquor Mart in True North Square beer from Lake of the Woods Brewing Company Manitoba treats from Mottola Grocery ramen from Saburo Kitchen in Hargrave St. Market and dinner + dessert from Browns Socialhouse Portage. . I know it’s not for everyone - but this winter is going to be harder than usual. Biking to run errands and get some fresh air is sparking so much joy right now. .
