One grant helping two businesses. We know our Downtown Winnipeg BIZ members need support to make it through the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. To help, we designed a grant to build sustainability for two member businesses with each grant awarded. The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Connect Grant pairs member businesses needing support with the member experts that can provide services like website design and development, HR and staffing solutions, accounting, IT support, legal se...rvices and marketing. We are committed to an inclusive program so 20% of the grants will be allocated for BIPOC-owned businesses and 20% of the grants will be allocated for women-owned businesses. Downtown Winnipeg BIZ members are encouraged to visit our website to learn more and apply. https://bit.ly/34lJORx #finditdowntown #downtownwinnipeg

Great news for Manitoba restaurants that shifted to offer delivery as a result of Critical (red) public health orders! This relief is available to both restaurants that provide their own delivery and those using third-party delivery companies. https://rrf.mbchamber.mb.ca/

We thought we’d kick off Friday with a visit to beloved downtown honky tonk Times Change(d) High & Lonesome Club for a listen to Sweet Alibi. . During the summer, we were so fortunate to be able to enjoy live music outside in a safe way at The Beer Can at The Fortune Block. Times Change(d) did the music programming and we saw so many friends and familiar faces. For many, ourselves included, The Beer Can saved summer. . With the cooler weather, we can no longer visit The C...an and Times Change(d), as a venue, abides. . Times Change(d) is launching a compilation album, featuring 25 local acts, each being paid a minimum guarantee of $500, called We Gotta Lotta Givin’ To Do. They are fundraising to give more back to each contributing musician. Visit their Facebook page for all the details. . Here is the fundraising link in the hopes that you will support this iconic venue and Winnipeg musicians bit.ly/3n0XPLI . #finditdowntown #timeschanged #timeschangedhighandlonesome #winnipegmusic #winnipeg #downtownwinnipeg See more

Today’s look back at our Downtown Sounds Concert videos from the spring brings us back to Leonard Sumner singing his song Sun Comin’ Around on top of the parkade at The Forks . The Forks is the soul of downtown Winnipeg and where we all gather to celebrate...well everything! From Canada Day...to Winnipeg Blue Bombers winning the Grey Cup - we are there, together. . Things are different now - Canada Day was virtual (albeit lovely!) and we get to keep the Grey Cup for anothe...r year. The Forks, while much, much quieter, remains open. The Common is closed for dine-in but the restaurants are there - doing take out, curbside delivery and many also offer delivery. The retailers are also still open, at reduced capacity, and online. . Let’s all continue to support The Forks at this time - when they need us most. Let’s make sure all of the tenants are still there, when Winnipeggers can all safely gather again. . . We’re all certainly living in interesting times. With so much going on, we thought that we’d slow it all down a little and revisit our Downtown Sounds Concert videos that we launched in the spring. . Enjoy a moment of zen with Sierra Noble singing Let Me Out of Here, performed with Rusty Maytas on the rooftop of the Winnipeg Art Gallery. . One week ago, Winnipeg Art Gallery shared the name of the new #InuitArtCentre - Qaumajuq [HOW-ma-yourq], meaning It is bright, it i...s lit. . The Winnipeg Art Gallery is temporarily closed (please note the new Winnipeg Art Gallery Shop is OPEN!) and we could all use a little light. . We will be reposting the remaining 3 Downtown Sounds videos this week. Enjoy! . @manitobamusic #finditdowntown #downtownsounds #downtownwinnipeg #winnipeg See more

Introducing the DCSP CONNECT team! Downtown Winnipeg BIZ Watch has fully transitioned to the Downtown Community Safety Partnership with enhanced services and a new look. Together, we’re focused on proactive community engagement to enhance safety, health and well-being for everyone downtown. . The CONNECT Team, formerly the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ WATCH, has transitioned to the Downtown Community Safety Partnership (DCSP) to provide frontline, non-emergency response and assista...nce in downtown Winnipeg. Work is ongoing to launch two additional DCSP teams that will support CONNECT in providing 24/7 assistance to the downtown community. IMPORTANT Stop your Sunday scrolling and check this out - Bagelsmith opened at 185 Carlton St and @reesefeast tagged us in this great post! @reesefeast ! ... two-and-a-half months unemployed and a seriousness toward covid-19 precautions made for a quiet month on the dining out front. happy to announce i am returning to my usual search for all things edible in winnipegjust socially distanced! yay! earlier this week, @bagelsmith_wpg finally unlocked the door to their brick-and-mortar location! once the most elusive and popular (as in.. sold out in minutes?! ) pandemic bread delivery option, now you can stop by their carlton street shop to secure yourself bagels, schmears, and.. doritos sandwiches?! pictured are the bento on poppy seed and smoked meat on everything bagel sandwiches. the smoked meat is imported from montréal! the flavor makes me miss st-viateur and schwartz's! the bento is essentially lox with fresh vegetables to cut the smokiness; it was my favorite of the two and i think it will be an easy favorite for most. if you get two and split them like i did, opt for hot mustard (i was cautious and got mild) as the wasabi schmear on the bento is not very spicy. i am looking forward to returning for better interior photos! there was a lengthy, steady line at lunchtime so i was unable to do any photography. the staff kept to social distancing guidelines, ushering customers out with great efficiency through a back entrance. safe, quick, and delicious! everything you could want from takeout right now. my next order has to include the caramelized onion schmear and smoked butter! ' ' ! when you make purchases from small businesses, they thrive, turning right around and reinvesting that money into our local economy! since everyone eats.. usually that means dining out! the circle of life! @jamison.lk #finditdowntown #downtownwinnipeg #winnipeg #winnipegfoodie See more
