Attention Equine Clients Along with sanitizing and wearing proper PPE to keep you safe from Covid-19, additional protocols will now be in effect due to the EHV-1 outbreak in Ontario. EHV-1 is very serious and should not be taken lightly. To keep your horses safe screening for any potential symptoms in any of the horses on the property will be performed prior to your appointment (fever, lethargy, respiratory issues, neurological signs). I will also be conducting additi...onal sanitizing of all equipment, changing clothes between each farm visit and sanitizing footwear. Proper hand washing/sanitizing will continue as it has during the Covid-19 pandemic. My heart goes out to all those who have been affected by the EHV-1 outbreak. This is a huge blow to the equine community. Working through the covid-19 pandemic and the EHV-1 outbreak at the same time is extremely difficult but my love for this job and my incredible clients makes it totally worth it! Everyone meet Roxi! Roxi has been experiencing some spay incontinence and due to no fault of her own was having accidents around the house. An amazing success story to start off your Monday! Meet Bubba the Bulldog He came to us a few months ago limping and dragging his hind legs. After a few tests we realized that Bubba’s proprioception (ability to know where his limbs are in space) was almost non existent in both his hind legs. He had muscle loss in his gluteal muscles and hamstrings on both sides and was visibly sore in his low back and pelvis. After a handful of chiropractic visits we are so thrilled to see ...Bubba has improved significantly! His proprioception was completely restored, he’s now going on lots of walks with his owners with no signs of pain or limping and he’s already started building muscle mass! My only regret with this patient is not getting before and after videos to show how amazing he has responded to care! I love how rewarding this job can be! Today I had the honour of working on this sweet girl Meet Siemkje! She is a 24 year old Friesian that was imported from the Netherlands when she was only 4 years old. In her older age shes starting to have some aches and pains that we are hoping chiropractic care can help her with! Although Siemkje is retired from driving she has a very important job - shes a therapy horse! She helps those that may be dealing with stress, anxiety or any mental health issues. This is Hope. Shes a 5 yr old Percheron Mare. She was having trouble driving in the hitch ever since having her first foal. She was constantly swinging out to the left with her hind end and showing some mild signs of hind end lameness while driving. When standing square she seemed to have a left convex curve in her spine (as seen in the photo on the right). After a handful of adjustments focusing on the pelvis and lumbar spine, in addition to some prescribed core exercises, ...she is now driving great! No more swinging out to the left and no longer showing signs of lameness. As you can see in the photo on the left her curved spine has almost completely resolved! When her owner originally saw a problem happening it was assumed she was just being bad when driving. Remember horses dont want to be bad! Often times they are trying to tell you something. If your horse has suddenly started showing some bad behaviours, it could be signs of pain or discomfort! Chiropractic care isnt just for lame horses or dogs. Being a rescue dog, Archie has always been a bit of a scaredy cat! When I first brought my bale home to practice some chiropractic adjustment on him he was deathly afraid of the big scary grey block. After a little bit of work (and lots of treats) hes now willing to hop up and get his chiropractic treatment whenever I pull the bale out! Today I spent the morning handing out coffee and snacks to all the amazing education workers braving the cold to fight for proper education! If it wasnt for absolutely amazing teachers that I was blessed with and the great education that I received I wouldnt be where I am today. I have teachers that have supported me not only the years I was in their classes but even now that Im out in the working world. Im so thankful for the opportunities my education has given me and I... can only hope that my future children, nieces and nephews, friends and family will get the same opportunities that I had. My teacher friends tell me horror stories of what goes on in school because of lack of support and supplies. These teachers are out in freezing cold weather fighting for your kids. Its not about money. Its not about them. Its about giving kids the opportunity to do their best. They deserve better. The future generation deserves better than this. Cuts hurt kids. Remember these kids will be the ones taking care of you when youre old. Would you rather them be educated or just another number in this broken down system?
