Holy cow I graduated from dental school 15 years ago! After McGill I went to the Montréal Children’s Hospital for a year-long residency and the rest is...my story: that year was hard and exhausting and amazing! ... I found a passion for pediatric dentistry and made friends who would become like family. (I see your pretty face in the picture @mnimeh123). My first week there I saw a teenager that broke her jaw in a bike accident, a 6 yo who’s eye was almost swollen shut from a dental abscess, and the cutest little baby for his first ever visit to the dentist. It was wild and stressful and great! By the end of the year I accepted the invitation to become a staff dentist at the hospital and at the same time I took over for a pediatric dentist who was moving away from Ville Saint Laurent. It’s been 15 years since I left dental school and I am so grateful to still have passion for my profession. a lap exam means that your child stays on your lap while I examine their teeth. We sit knee to knee while your child faces you. This is advantageous for many reasons:... your child stays in touch with you and can maintain eye contact with you the entire time, providing comfort and a sense of security they don’t feel like they’re going to fall out of a big dental chair they’re not alone I can see everything I need to we can even clean their teeth and perform minimally invasive procedures in this position! This is also the position I recommend to brush your infant and toddler’s teeth in at home, but with their head in your lap.
