Why see a chiropractor? For musculoskeletal (MSK) related injuries, best practice guidelines almost always recommend a trial of conservative care prior to more invasive methods. Since chiropractors are primary care manual therapists who SPECIALIZE in musculoskeletal conditions AND provide conservative treatment options, the real question is WHY wouldn’t you go to one first!? Additionally, chiropractors are highly educated to identify conditions that may not benefit fro...m manual therapy approaches and WILL refer you to the most appropriate health care provider when needed! What is a MUSCULOSKELETAL INJURY? Injury to the bodies soft tissues such as; muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, and nerves As many people may be apprehensive about surgical treatment options, or may want to limit medication intake, my question is why not give a trial of conservative care a try? Evidence highly suggests it as an initial treatment strategy, and who knows, you may be back to your pre-injury self sooner than you think. The possible conservative solutions of your condition? Could be hands on manual therapy Could be as simple as a modification of your movements and education about your condition Could be a strengthening or stretching exercise Could be all of the above + many more options! Sounds pretty stress free right? So why not give it a shot? Now I’m not saying surgery/medication, etc. doesn’t have a place, and sometimes it may very well be the only option and the fact that we have those resources available is amazing! @: Tag someone you feel could benefit from manual therapy!
