It’s been a while This May not be my best headstand ever - but I needed to know I could still do it!! It’s been 2 years since I last tried this (except for one time while 7 months pregnant! ). I got tired of taking it easy and taking it slow. I GET that I had an injury... and that all my providers are advising me to go slowly. But really... it’s just time to get back at it!! This wasn’t a bad start Plus, my grandmother was doing headstands and bridges in her 70’s!! #NoExcuses #Headstands #NotPretty #StillGotit #LetsGo #LetsDoThis #CottageFun #COVIDFridayNights

It’s a Learning Weekend! Today’s Topic: MOLD TOXICITY One of the primary areas of focus in my practice is Mold & Lyme Disease. ... Every year, I attend a minimum of 5 international Conferences, to gain more knowledge to bring back to my patients in this space. (I miss actually traveling to these countries to attend these conferences!) #COVID We’ve been treating these conditions for over 7 years now. I also personally had Lyme (and recently found out I have mold - but I’m not treating fully until I’m done breastfeeding). So, despite being able to bring personal experience to my treatment, I’m always seeking out new options and research. Did you know that if you have Lyme disease, you’re more susceptible to Mold? (And vice versa). Did you know that if you have both, you need to treat the mold first? The symptoms of both are pretty similar, too. How do you know if you have Mold Toxicity? Here’s a very basic and quick checklist. You’ve been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or Fibromyalgia. Brain Fog Headaches Fatigue Muscle Twitching Zapping or zinging in your body or in your head (if you have this symptom, you’ll know what I’m talking about - and this symptom is VERY indicative of Mold) Poor Immune Function/Chronic Colds Chronic Congestion These are just a few! If you have any of the above, you may want to get tested! Treatment is a WHOLE other thing, and you need to be on the right protocol for the right period of time (1 bottle of charcoal did not treat your mold!!) This is such a tricky condition to treat, so make sure you’re working with someone who really understands this illness #ILADS #MissingTravel #MissingLiveEducation #Lyme #Mold #Detox #MoldTreatment #EducatuinSaturday #Learning #WhyIDontGoInTheForest

A little throwback! This time last year, I was still preggo , a few months away from giving birth, and sitting in the glorious sunshine of Hawaii. I’m missing travel, and the beautiful sea , sun and sand I had these photos taken when I was there, and the plan was to go back and take Vienne’s 1-year photos in Kauai! Given that that’s only 2 months away at this point, it’s not looking likely. So I’ll just enjoy these wonderful memories #TakeMeBack #Hawaii #Honolulu #Kauai #Christmas #NewYears #WinterWonderland

Hoping everyone had an incredible Halloween weekend - despite how different it may have been!! Halloween has always been my LEAST favourite holiday I haven’t dressed up since university- and even then, it was a random last minute costume that I threw together, after being pressure into it and told I could NOT show up in normal clothing. This year, of course, was a bit different How could I NOT be THAT Mom, and dress up with @viennemarisol - my little Dr. C, jr... My little nature girl At about 7:30am this morning, I took my coffee and this little princess down to the dock to look out at the lake. A beautiful, relaxing morning watching the mist drift over the water. You can smell the fall in the air, the leaves are starting to change; there’s a wonderful cool breeze and it was almost zero degrees up here #FallIsInTheAir #BeautifulMorning I love the water, the wind and the crisp air - fall is my favourite season and I’m think...ing Vienne is the same. She LOVES being outside, and as soon as she sees the trees, she’s calm and still and just stares out at the lake. #ForestBathing #WaterGirl She fell asleep in my arms on the dock, and I sat there for over an hour, drinking my coffee, holding my baby and reading a book. I can’t think of a more perfect way to start the day #MyNatureGirl #CottageLife #PerfectMorning #Water #Sunrise #Calm #Peace #NoStress #DeStress #NatureBaby (although her love of nature does slightly terrify me and makes me think that I’m going to have to take her camping in the future , given how much she seems to love it ). #OhGod #PleaseNotCamping

What a difference 6 months can make! #PreAndPostCOVID The pic on the left was taken back in Feb, on what would be my last night out in a while. @cafebouludto (Thank you compression socks that allowed me to get my swollen Preggo feet into those heels! ). Little did I know that 10 days later, my little one would make her early debut. And then COVID. And then shut down. ... Last night was my first dressed up night out, post-COVID! I just couldn’t resist this pic - Same restaurant, same mirror , and yet everything is completely different .... what a difference 6 months can make #PostCOVID #ITookMyMaskOffForThisPic #MamaNightOut #SaturdayNight See more

Sometimes, you just have an awesome day with patients. I love my patients and today, they made MY day. So kind, asking about Vienne... but one specific visit stands out. I thought this was such incredible timing, given that yesterday was the anniversary of my fathers’ passing ... I had a new consult today, and right as we were winding down and getting ready to end the visit, my patient asked me about my last name. He told me he had had a teacher in high school many years ago named John Campitelli. Would I happen to know him? Because he told that this man was an incredible teacher, one of his absolute favourites, and he and all of his friends loved him. Was there any relation? That man was my father. Over 30 years after his death, I still have strangers reaching out to me, sending me messages, asking me if I’m related to John Campitelli, because they just need to tell me how much they loved him and what a difference he made in their lives. These stories warm my heart, and I’m so grateful to my patient for telling me this today. He probably didn’t realize how much it meant to me (although I did tell him) or what amazing timing he had for sharing that with me My father’s death was devastating for so many people. He was an engaging, kind, charismatic man, a great friend and a wonderful father and husband, who is so warmly remembered, all these years later. I have nothing but beautiful memories of my childhood and of my parents together. THIS is the kind of legacy we can all only hope to leave behind See more

RBG My mother told me to be a lady. And for her, that meant be your own person, be independent." ... "Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you." We are at last beginning to relegate to the history books the idea of the token woman."

This child of mine She is turning out to be the BEST eater!! After a trip to Montreal, Vienne had her first real meal out @maisonboulud Her dinner that night: ... Badoit to start Chewing on crusty bread (couldn’t actually eat it, so I was ok with her chewing on it). Followed by: Duck Foie Gras & Salmon Tartare (no joke ) - she loved ALL of it. Even licked the Foie Gras off the highchair tray and pulled a small tantrum when I tried to take my salmon tartare back! Today, she got some homemade organic blends for lunch: First up: Feeding with Mama, then a blend of Breast milk + squash + a tiny bit of collagen powder For dessert: a blend of Breast milk + avocado + mixed berries So far, food intros are a success #6Months #FoodIntroductions #BabyFeeding #BabyFood #EatingMamasFood #HighMaintenanceBaby #MySweetVienne

Shame. Body image. Two things that are so thoroughly intertwined. There is a significant amount of judgment towards others on social media right, for being too large AND for being too thin. ... Somehow, society has decided that it’s our right to decide if someone’s body is acceptable to OUR personal standards (*cough* judgments). We criticize people for being deathly thin and criticize those with curves, under the guise of concern. (S)he’s not healthy, There’s a movement of self-love that has been slowly permeating. The idea that we can LOVE our bodies, our curves, our lumps and dimples. You would think that this movement would be rejoiced, celebrated. A movement that steps away from the constant internal and external criticisms we experience daily. Yet somehow, this too gets trashed. You see the next guru making posts about hating the love your curves movement, because these (wo)men are sick. Unhealthy. Diabetic. Inflamed. Have metabolic syndrome. Proudly sitting on their high-horse Marching to the beat of I won’t support obesity and illness. Unless these people are your personal physicians - their opinions don’t apply to you. Ever. As if tearing down a persons journey at self-acceptance and throwing medical terms at someone, will all of the sudden magically help someone on their path to wellness. In fact, it does the opposite. You can’t SHAME someone Healthy. Or to your accepted version of skinny. What these people are also missing is that mental health IS a part of physical health!! A more important (and more difficult) part, in my opinion. I deal with weight loss patients everyday. And I can say that rarely meet people who said they love themselves as they are, But just want to improve their health. So for those of you sitting high, hiding behind blood work, certificates & degrees, looking down your nose at those you have embraced a journey of self-love.... I invite you to dismount. Join, encourage support these journeys of self-discovery. Because... Once we have self-love, THEN we get self-care. Mind, body & spirit. Continued in PART II

*** Breastfeeding Awareness Month *** I’ve had the pleasure and fortune to be able to exclusively breastfeed Vienne from Day 1. Although this has been an amazing choice for me, I know that some women choose not to, or can’t BF. My stance has always been Fed is best - however you choose or are able to do that. For me, it was breastfeeding. ... When I was pregnant with Vienne, I spent a TON of time preparing myself for this. I had worked with enough women and heard enough stories to know that it probably wouldn’t be easy, and I prepared my self for the possibility of not having any milk. I read EVERYTHING, and bought all the things - the gear, the pumps, the supplements, the nipple protectors, nipple butters, researched breastfeeding clinics, saw a lactation consultant the day Vienne was born and two additional consultants to help ease the transition in week 1. Turns out it wasn’t as easy as some think. I had a TON of milk (a blessing), and a TON of pain (like... take a deep breath, count down from 10, try not to vomit when she latched ... kind of pain). But I didn’t give up. I didn’t WANT to. I had prepared myself for ALL of this and knew that this was expected. What I HADN’T prepared myself for, was how much I would absolutely LOVE breastfeeding. Before she was born, I bought Pumps and bottles so that others could feed her, thinking I’d be done around 6 months, and so I could get extra sleep. At this point, almost 6 months in, I’ve never even given her a bottle. I’m exclusively breastfeeding and I love every moment of it. As she stares up at me when she latches, and knowing my body is providing every last nutrient she needs in order to grow. It’s a feeling I can’t quite describe. My plans have changed, the BF gear is collecting dust (well, except the pump - I have more frozen milk than I know what to do with - just in case). I want to feed her for longer than 6 months and I know that weaning will probably be harder for me than it will be for her. Breastfeeding has been such a beautiful experience and I’m forever grateful I’m able to do it. #BreastFeedingAwarnessMonth #FedIsBest #MySweetVienne #HappyBaby @ Toronto, Ontario
