I don't know about you, but lately I've been feeling like the number of conspiracy theories about COVID19 are overwhelming! This blog post is more in line with my own thinking about some of what I have been seeing and includes some fact checking - mostly addressing the idea that COVID is a hoax in one way or another. Part of my perspective is informed by my past work as a nurse in hospitals and public health (which included working during SARS in Ontario, assessing people in... quarantine). I don't believe my co-workers were involved in conspiracy theories and cover-ups (I certainly wasn't) - they were good people, doing the best they can with the information they had at the time - not making up numbers, falsifying data or unable to use critical thinking. It's not meant to be a discussion of the impacts of the current approach to this virus or whether a different approach may have also been effective or less damaging, but I feel that is a deeper & more complex conversation about our values and priorities. https://deniseminger.com//some-thoughts-on-thinking-crit/

More on the grief so many of us are feeling. I haven’t listened to this podcast yet, but generally everything Brene Brown puts out is great :)

So many people are feeling the heaviness of what we are going through this week - we are grieving the loss of so many things as a result of the lockdowns and restrictions, as well as the fear of the unknown.. https://hbr.org//03/that-discomfort-youre-feeling-is-grief

Dear Community, While you read this, we hope you are finding a way to feel peaceful. Our clinic team has made a difficult, but necessary, decision to temporaril...y suspend in clinic treatments due to the current COVID-19 situation. It is a quickly evolving situation and we must do our part in slowing the spread of COVID-19. We will not be seeing patients in person at the clinic effective Thursday afternoon, March 19, 2020. We will be closed until April 6th. We will contact you if this changes and continue to assess the situation. To our patients that have upcoming appointments, we will be calling you directly to inform you of this change and discuss your options. Phone and video conferencing appointments are available with Dr Lena Kim, ND and Dr Cynthia Hnatko, ND. Supplements can be provided to you through an online service, drop shipped to you or for now if you are willing to pay over the phone, have supplements given to you at the door when you come to the clinic for pickup . Please email or call True Nature Health Clinic to arrange this. If you have any concerns, please feel free to reach out via email [email protected]. We are here for you if you need us. Take care, stay healthy and we look forward to seeing you soon. True Nature Health Team

I am offering telemedicine visits (video or phone) in the meantime, for anyone who does not require an in person physical assessment.

At Ripple Effect Wellness Centre, our goal is to provide Full Family Care to all families and all individuals. For over 4 years in our current location, we hav...e succeeded in doing so. More now than ever, we have a deep desire to help you stay well. Within our clinic walls, we see many people who are very young (infants in fact), many who are pregnant, and many others who are immuno-compromised in various ways. As healthcare professionals, we recognize that our medicine can help boost immune systems and can help fight the symptoms of the common cold and even the flu. HOWEVER, the risk to our patients and to our business is very high right now. If even a single patient comes through and later tests positive for Covid-19, we would have no choice but to close our clinic and quarantine our staff for 2 weeksand it would prove to be problematic for our at-risk patients too, and for the patients who aren’t at risk, but who need the care we provide on a daily basis. AS SUCH, effective immediately and until further notice: We have implemented even-more stringent sanitizing policies at the clinic in all high-traffic areas and treatment rooms. Practitioners who are displaying any symptoms of illness will also stay home, and healthy practitioners will help provide coverage in those situations. All patients are asked to wash their hands with soap and water upon entry to the clinic. If a treatment room is available when you enter, you will be able to wait for your practitioner there (as opposed to waiting in the common lobby area.) STAY HOME if you have a fever, cough, difficulty breathing or symptoms of a flu. Do not come to the office at this time. Patients with such symptoms may be refused service. If in doubt, please call the clinic at 780-569-3181 or touch base with your practitioner directly if applicable. If you have been travelling from any high-risk areas, please do not come in. If you have been travelling elsewhere, please take precautions, and call us if you're unsure as to whether you should/can come in. Late cancellation policy/fees will be waived in the event of illness. If need-be, appointments for Naturopathy & Clinical Counselling can be done via Zoom or phone. If you are concerned about your Immune System, please know that Traditional Chinese Medicine and Naturopathy can help support you. We are open for business and prepared to keep you healthy and well. Stress can go up in these times too, and all of our practitioners and modalities are able to support you in this. Please call 780-569-3181 to book an appointment, or to discuss any concerns you have.
