I want you to understand your hormones. I also understand why you have turned over every stone to try and figure it out on your own - which may have included some fancy testing. Fancy testing (I'm talking about urine and saliva and other tests) are not "diagnostic" because they just look at the last few steps of the hormone pathway, not your 'upstairs' hormones such as FSH and LH. Most hormonal problems are related to ovulation. Women don't ovulate for a few reasons - but ALL... of those reasons have to be diagnosed with hormone tests in the blood. FSH, LH, ACTH, prolactin and other 'brain-based' hormones can teach us about WHY you aren't ovulating (which is how we create a treatment plan). If you have question, reach out to me or my team @clarityhealthburlington. We can get you on-course.

You don’t have a sex drive and not for the reasons you think. The phrase sex drive makes women feel like the mood should downright slap them across the face, when we know for a fact that this isn’t how desire, pleasure and sexual function work in women at all. Women often feel broken when their sexual desire falls and in this episode we uncover hidden reasons for why pleasure is a problem in women and how women can begin to get more love back in their life. Dr. Jordin Wig...gins ND is the author of The Pink Canary ( https://amzn.to/2XUWGep) and shares her secrets for how she helps women get more pleasure in their lives and to claw out of a sex rut (even if it’s been years!). How would you show up if you felt like you couldn’t fail? What if we told you your willingness to put yourself out there was partially imprinted in your brain before the age of 7? Scary though right? Adele Tevlin is a mindset coach who focuses on how our imprints in our subconscious mind literally shapes our reality and our experience of the world. In this episode we explain what this means for the modern woman, break down non-truths such as go to school and you’ll get a g...ood job and give some examples on how to start thinking about your brain and subconscious mind in a way that can help you break free of your limiting beliefs. I share my own personal experience doing Adele’s classes and being coached by her (which was completely impromptu and I had no intention of sharing before we hit record). I hope you find it a valuable episode. Adele offers mindset training to women that I highly recommend (no affiliation other than that I adore her and her programs). Hold my coffee . . The funny thing is, we can’t remember how our symptoms were last month. . It’s well researched actually. We have a super hard time looking back over the last few months and accurately telling it like it was.... . The invention of cycle tracking apps for women have been a game changer for me professionally. Way Less Guessing on my patients part to tell me how things were, so we can forge ahead for something better. . Track your mood. Headaches. Bloating. Pelvic pain. Pain with sex. Mood. Acne. Fatigue. Hot flashes. Insomnia. Mood. Mood. And mood. . Having a real good handle on how things really were and are will help you take control of your future . . . . . . . . . . . . #periodpainrelief #perimenopausehealth #pcos #selfcare #periodpain #menopausematters #menopausesupport #migraine #ibsawareness #menopauseweightloss #periodcramps #nightsweats #hormonehealth #menstruationmatters #mensturation #postmenopause #arthritis #menopauserelief #hormones #womenshealth #hotflashes #hormone #hormonebalance #womenshealthmatters #menstrualcycle #endometriosis #hormonesupport #knowyourbody #cramps #periodproblems

Your mood after 40. How hormones and the peri-menopause transition increases the risk of depression in women. A woman’s risk of depression rises as she moves towards her menopause transition and the research points to a significant hormonal trigger for this change. Women can start to experience changes to their hormone production in their early to mid 40s, even if they continue to cycle regularly. In this episode I review what’s happening hormonally to women in their 40s and ...how this is a trigger for new, or returning depression. I review the difference between using antidepressants and hormones to support mood in women before menopause, and the risk factors that nearly double the risk of depression at this stage in a woman’s life. Treating women in perimenopause requires a unique approach that listens closely to a woman’s experience - lab testing isn’t always accurate at helping diagnose perimenopause at all. Enjoy this episode, and remember to leave a 5-star review. https://apple.co/2DoO7kQ

I used to eat Paleo. If a grain of rice fell off my daughter's plate and landed on mine I would pick it off and put it in the garbage. I was super strict, and had my carbs down under 40 grams per day.... I didn't feel well. I had terrible symptom, was bloated, and couldn't control my weight. I was moody, and my PMS was getting worse. I'm not saying carbs saved the day (but we should now all imagine a loaf of sourdough bread with a cape). BUT they significantly improved my life. I had more energy to exercise. I was more balanced. I felt more full. I got better. The research on diet and PMS suggests that carbs are a POSITIVE thing for our mood. They help facilitate amino acids into the brain for positive mood, and can help reduce the mental and physical symptoms of PMS in women. Remember that your solutions can't create more problems. If you're die-hard low carb and don't feel amazing, it might be time to reconsider.

Self care is a leadership strategy that we need women to lean into to have the massive impact we want them to have in the world and in their lives. In this episode I sit down with my friend, mentor and colleague Dr. Erin Wiley and we talk about the culture of deprivation in women’s health and how women can look at their health as a long term investment (we use a lot of financial analogies!). We share our own secret sauce for how we balance time as women, mothers and business ...owners and give take home suggestions for how to look at all of the balls women juggle to figure out which ones could be put down in favour of self care and health. Erin’s mission is to help people understand when they start investing in their well being and use self-care as a leadership strategy. Energy is a renewable resource and your body needs rest, proper nutrition and mindset to show up fully each day. You can follow Erin on Instagram @drerinwiley to connect with her and her mission for supporting high performing women. Listen and subscribe here https://apple.co/34RQh75

I mean, unless you don’t like having $300 in your pocket . This hormone metabolite test has taken the internet by storm and seems like the missing key to solve the hormonal woman’s problems. Here’s the catch: there’s no research on it.... We do have research that suggests that your hormone lab work doesn’t always matter when we work to understand your PMS or peri-menopause situation. Your numbers are not always important. Especially ones you pee out. We are all differentially sensitive to our hormone changes. Which means some women feel amazing with high progesterone and some feel suicidal. But peeing on a piece of paper to show which metabolites of certain hormones you have in your body isn’t helpful. We don’t know what those metabolites mean, we don’t know how to change them, and it probably leads us astray. How do you get your hormones treated? You talk to someone who uses evidence based assessment and treatment. Hormonal health isn’t woo woo medicine. But those tests sure make it seem that way. Save your money. Don’t do it. And for my practitioners out there, I’ll be running a ditch the Dutch test webinar soon to help you get back in the evidence lane.
