Seems like this movie is making some waves. Here is another look with a Canadian/Ontario perspective.

If you have watched, or are thinking of watching, the Netflix movie Pieces of a Woman give this blog a read. Such a different system down in the states and such tough subject matter. *Trigger warning pregnancy loss & traumatic birth*

Our midwives, nurses, and obstetricians showing up today just like they have all the way through this! So proud, privileged, and pumped up to see that the end is in sight. Look at those pipes! #dm_midwives #MSHmidwives #AMUbaby #MSHAMU #MShospital #msh_childbirthchildrens_team
And it’s a Spider-Man!
A great visualization of how the newborn stomach grows!
Trigger warning #miscarriage #pregnancyloss Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few. In the pain of our loss, my husband and I discovered that in a room of 100 women, 10 to 20 of them will have suffered from miscarriage. Yet despite the staggering commonality of this pain, the conversation remains taboo, riddled with (unwarranted) shame, and perpetuating a cycle of solitary mourning. You’re not alone. There isn’t one right way to grieve. There are resources in our community to help you and your family heal.
We just love our Alongside Midwifery Unit! Don’t you? Wouldn’t it be great if everyone had an opportunity to deliver with midwives in their own unit? If you had your baby on the AMU and you have the time to write a letter about your experience and what it meant to you to be able to deliver here with the support of your midwives we would love to hear from you! Please contact us at [email protected]
Choice of birthplace is one of the tenets of midwifery care in Ontario. Ask your midwife about your birth options
Congratulations Women’s Health Physiotherapy Centre!
October 15 is pregnancy loss awareness day. Our thoughts are with all the grieving families as they navigate their loss. Please know that there are resources out there to help, including this one: https://pailnetwork.sunnybrook.ca #pregnancyandinfantlossawareness
We all need some legit me time!
Shout out to everyone who goes past their due date! Did you know? 81% having their first baby, and 62% having their second, third, or later go past their due date. #ontariomidwives #pregancy #prenatalcare #midwifelife #midwiferycare #greybruce #postdates #midwife
Such powerful images! Ask your midwife about the different tools we have on the AMU like the squat bars, slings, birth stools and birth balls! We encourage upright birth positions and creative labouring support. What was something that your midwife did for you in labour that helped?
Some become midwives
Content warning. Miscarriage, pregnancy loss, still birth. This is so heartbreaking. So generous of Chrissy to share this. Hopefully bringing her experience forward will help others navigate their grief. Be kind and take care.
A trend we could get behind!
I know I say this a lot, but I really do have the best job in the world. I am so grateful for these moms and their babies. Supporting new families is such an ho...nour, and seeing them grow from pregnancy through early parenthood fills my heart with so much joy. I love seeing how each of these stay connected. The way my phone blows up with their What’s App chat group makes me smile. The new Mom Squad group has just started up and is now full, but there will be a new group starting in January. #bestjobintheworld #momsofinstagram #babiesofinstagram #momsquad #grateful
Today is #WorldContraceptionDay. We have to keep fighting for access to birth control and reproductive rights in a Ruth-less world to continue the fight in her honor. Go to @Pillclub for some useful resources on how to continue this fight!
Our very own Markham Stouffville Hospital, and one of our alumni (Steph Zaheer RM), are highlighted in this article
