In the world of parenting there are carpenters and gardeners. Alison Gopnik, psychology and philosophy professor at the University of California, Berkeley, uses these occupations as metaphors for two distinct parenting styles. A carpenter is calculated and planning in their child's development, with a specific end goal in mind. A gardener takes a more unstructured approach, planting "seeds" for their child and letting them grow and flourish in their own unique way. Learn more about the carpenter and the gardener by listening to the podcast or reading the article below: https://www.npr.org//the-carpenter-vs-the-gardener-two-mod
Congratulations to our two thesis students who presented their research to the Psychology faculty today! They have both worked very hard this semester, and it shows! Great job Cassy and Taylor!
