If you are an educator in Alberta, this is critical reading. These are the recommendations being put forward by AECEA, for the early learning regulations. There are a few very important things to note, such as the suggestion that the orientation course no longer be the minimum education, the new minimum will be one full year of ELCC courses. And of course the new 'level four' to acknowledge those who choose to take the four year degree that is starting in September. Presented without commentary.....for now.
What a great opportunity to learn from some of the leaders in our field! I have set time aside today to watch Dr. Peter Grey, a true idol of mine. Next will be loose parts. What will you choose?

I love to bake, and when I bake with my younger nieces and nephews, I often will pick super easy recipes to keep the time short so they stay engaged. I love thi...s simple cookie recipe because it is affordable, SO easy, you can create endless types of cookies, and you only have to measure 1 thing! The recipe is: 1 box of cake mix(any flavour) 2 eggs 1/2 cup vegetable oil Mix all three ingredients together (and add whatever you want to for fun - chocolate chips, nuts, sprinkles, dried fruit) and then spoon onto a cookie sheet and bake at 325 Degrees for about 14 minutes(it varies depending on your oven and whatever things you add. Depending on how big you make your cookies and how many times some batter got taste tested, you can get between 18 to 24 cookies.

As someone who regrets having done this when I taught kindergarten and preschool, I fully agree with what Dan Hodgins is saying in this article. I am happy to say that I quit doing this before I quit teaching, and I can tell you the only ones upset about it were the parents.
