Swipe for examples! Expanding the variety a child eats can be easier than you think! Most parents I work with envision big changes when it comes to their children trying new foods, like incorporating new vegetables, different protein sources or anything that isn't pre-packaged.... The truth is: any type of expansion to a picky eater's diet is a HUGE step in the right direction! If we start by making small changes to the foods they feel safe with, this can lead to bigger changes down the road and get them on their way to eating what the rest of the family is eating! If you have a picky eater at home and want to break free from stressful mealtimes and help them expand their food variety, join me for a free master class on April 15th at 10am EST where you will learn 3 ways to help your picky eater eat their meals without a fight. My doctor said it’s just a phase My friend said they would just eat when they’re hungry I’ve been told to just give them what they like so they’ll eat... Sound familiar? If so, you’re not alone. The parents I work with come to me worried about their child’s nutrition and growth. They’re tired of the mealtime stress and battles around food. They tell me they’re doing everything in their power to get their kids to eat. Parents, it’s not your fault! In most situations, parents lack the support and information needed to help their kids eat better. Overcoming picky eating is not intuitive! Parents have also been misguided by others telling them it’s just a phase or they’ll eat when they’re ready. Parents then end up being stuck in a continuous spiral of worry, they use tactics to 'get' kids to eat, and inevitably their kids push back and eating doesn't improve. I help parents break free from this cycle by giving them the proper foundation to improve and strengthen the feeding ‘relationship’ between parent and child. Parents stress less at the table and worry less about what and how much their child will eat. The child’s eating begins to improve and their feeding relationship changes and benefits the whole family! You can break free from the cycle too! Apply to my picky eating program by filling out the quick application in my bio. This picky eating cycle is adapted from @katjarowellmd ‘s The worry cycle of feeding.

Parents: if the Easter sweets are giving you anxiety this weekend, READ ON! How are we going to deal with all of that chocolate? How much chocolate should I allow them to have?... If I don’t take it away, they’ll eat too much and get obsessed! I know its instinctual to want to micromanage how much chocolate your child eats. Letting our child have complete control over how much chocolate they eat can be daunting and scary! The reality is, your child’s long-term relationship with food depends on learning how to manage the amount of candy they eat. Letting them eat chocolate this weekend is not going to make them unhealthy. Here are some ways to handle the Easter basket stash this weekend: You can absolutely let them have at their stash once this weekend without making it a big deal. (I’m going to eat chocolate with them, its not Easter unless I have MiniEggs). Make the chocolate available with scheduled meals or snacks. This gives them access to it and keeps you in control of when to serve it. Make chocolate just a part of their Easter hunt or Easter baskets. This year I’m also filling their Eggs with mini puzzle pieces, stickers and bracelets! There isn’t one perfect way to feed your kids. Different strategies or methods can work for different families. This is my approach on how to handle candy this weekend with my kids! What is your game plan this year? Drop in the comments below * small round chocolates like these MiniEggs pictured are choking hazards for children under 4

Parents, does this resonate with you? There is enormous pressure on parents to feed children nutritiously and adequately. So when kids eat a limited number of foods, parents often fall back onto using certain tactics to get kids to eat. ... These 'tactics' have good intentions, but they can give kids the wrong message about food. When parents only serve preferred foods, count bites, bribe, pressure, & reward eating, kids might get that bite of new food in. But picky eating can become worse in the long run and the family stays stuck in the picky eating cycle. Here are just a few ways that can help make picky eating better in the long-run: exposing them to new foods in small portions and a variety of different ways keeping positive mealtimes taking off the pressure to get your kids to eat providing opportunities for food play Remember to have patience and perseverance in the process. There are no quick fixes to overcome picky eating
