Oct 29 is World Stroke Day. As some of you know, this day hits close to home for us. In 2017, Amber (Big E Tours co-owner) suffered a stroke. One year later, she created the non-profit organization, Stridesforstroke, and pledged to raise $120,000 for a rapid stroke blood test that is being developed at the University of Alberta. One in four people will have a stroke, which is why we believe it is so important to raise awareness about the game-changing research happening in o...ur own backyard. This World Stroke Day, we are encouraging everyone to learn the BEFAST acronym to quickly identify a stroke. We hope you never have to use it, but knowing this acronym could someday save your loved one’s life. Balance - are they experiencing a sudden loss of balance or coordination? Eyes - is their vision blurry, or have they suddenly lost vision in one or both eyes? Face - is one side of their face drooping? Arms - is their arm suddenly weak or numb? Speech - is their speech slurred, or are they having trouble speaking? Time to call - if so, call 911 immediately. Every second counts! If you want to go one step further and support Amber’s fundraising goal, check out the Strides For Stroke website (stridesforstroke.com) to donate to the cause or grab a snazzy pair of Goodr sunglasses (all proceeds are donated to Strides For Stroke/The University Hospital Foundation). We appreciate all of your support, and we hope that someday soon it will be much easier for people who have strokes to get the life-saving treatment they need as quickly as possible!

Christmas Lights Tours are cancelled for 2020 due to the growing COVID crisis. We value the health and the safety of our staff and our guests. It saddens us to make this decision. Expect to be back in Dec 2021.

Don’t cry because it’s over - smile because it happened! That’s a wrap (for now) on Prairie Sky Power Plant tours! We want to send a huge THANK YOU out to all of the amazing staff, partners, supporters, and guests who made this incredible tour possible! It was a busy, fun-filled summer, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Here are a few of our favourite highlights: - 1500 people toured the Rossdale Power Plant this summer. Some of these guests had actually toured the Po...wer Plant before. in the 1960s! - 2 of our tents were destroyed by wind gusts - but we didn’t let that stop us! - 1 breathtaking onsite photoshoot of Lulu - Machina Goddess of Machines with Todd Baynham, Skystone87 Photography, Erin Leigh, and Jenn Henry capped off an unbelievable season. - Countless ideas for the future of the power plant were generated (Smokestack slide anyone?) If you missed out on a tour, don’t fret! We hope to be back again very soon.
