Today we are celebrating our alumni Wayne Brownlee! Wayne is the recipient of the USask Alumni Lifetime Achievement Award! This photo shows Wayne being recognized for his sponsorship of Wanuskewin Heritage Park. Wayne is the vice-chair of Waneskewin and the fundraising campaign's co-chair. In 2017, Wanuskewin Heritage Park launched its $40 million campaign Thundering Ahead. One of the goals of the campaign was to raise funds aiming to eventually reintroduce the plains bi...son that were once abundant on the prairies back to the Saskatoon area. In 2020, after almost 150 years, the plains bison have returned to Wanuskewin Heritage Park. The return of the bison to Wanuskewin is another step towards the park reaching UNESCO World Heritage site designation. It is thanks to donors like Wayne and the Brownlee Family foundation who donated $5 million to the campaign that this historical reintroduction could occur.
