Welcome to our new sponsor Kal Tire and thank you for your generous donation. On behalf of their major supplier Nokian Tyres Kal Tire has graciously supplied a deserving family with a winter tire package, and swag bag, valued at over $1600.00. The lifetime warranty will ensure safe journeys to medical appointments all though this year and many to come. Gordon Abernethy and his team have further dedicated themselves to the safety of the Friends of Children family by supplying VIP key-tags which entitle the bearer to receive special discounts on tires, wheels, and certified mechanical services at their Cranbrook and Creston locations. We are so grateful for all of this. If you or someone you know has accessed our services please contact us to receive your key-tag. Thank you again Kal Tire Cranbrook!

Introducing: Teen Chefs Academy! A 15-week Cooking Program for youth ages 11-18. Who wants to learn to cook?!... Teen Chefs Academy is a program that will teach youth the basics of cooking, from dough to soup to pasta to baking. FINAL UPDATE! We made it to 30.7km of our 30 km goal! We may add a few more walks by the end of the month, weather permitting! Thank you all for your support, d...onations will still be accepted until the end of the month We are at 29.7km of our 30km goal! Thanj you everyone for all of your support! Update: I've been posting updates on our distances every walk in the comments below! We are at 11.7km already of our 30km goal by the end of the month! I am blown away at all of the support we have received Update! Happy thanksgiving! We are already at 21.6km of our 30km goal by the end of the month! Update! Any donations can also be dropped off at Auntie Barbs Bakery from 1130 to 5 Monday to Friday! Any regulars at Idlewild have probably seen me and my kiddos going for our daily walk. We have a new purpose for our walking during the month of october! Our goal is to walk 30km total this month, with a fundraising goal of $300 for the East Kootenay Friends of Children. This amazing group provides support to families in the east kootenays to make it to medical appointments for services not offered in our area. My daughter, Hailey was born 3 months early and had more appointments than I can count at the children's hospital in calgary. Without friends of children, our family would not have been able to make it to necessary appointments, and would have had unnecessary stress added to an already stressful situation. We are forever grateful to friends of children and are very excited to give back doing something we love! Many medical appointments are resuming and families are going to need support. Any donations can be made directly on the friends of children website https://www.friendsofchildren.ca/ Or by contacting me directly
