Hi Everyone! Happy Monday! Do you have outerwear laying around the house that's feeling lonely and underutilized? Great! Elevation is looking for donations of new or lightly-used snowboard jackets and pants to help us outfit our Shred participants. We are specifically looking for Large + Extra-Large jackets and Extra-Small, Medium, Large and Extra-Large pants or bibs. We can’t say enough good things about our time at @mtbaldyresort! 4 weeks of Sunday’s and unreal conditions each time for our #learntoshred program. We are grateful for their awesome instructors that have helped this amazing crew of youth learn to snowboard and find a new passion in life. Some of you may see chair lifts and busses/vans. To us we see moving classrooms and opportunities to connect and share some real moments and life lessons with the participants in our programs. It is the moments of learning that are created around the activities we do that really have the ability to stick with someone. Through sport it becomes possible to draw parallels to life and provide insight into how things like direction, perseverance and self confidence can help set a person up for a brighter future. We cannot thank our amazing volunteers for all that they do in helping our participants build passion and learn about life through sharing the wisdom they have with the next generations.

As we roll into the weekend we are thrilled to be getting back out on the snow! This week saw some of our #LeadersinAction participants getting out to Big White Ski Resort to refresh their snowboarding skills! Our amazing crew of volunteers are going through training this weekend and our winter programs will get rolling in full force in the coming weeks! As 2020 comes to an end we can only look back on what has been a wild ride with a sense of pride. This is just a small collection of the memories that have been made and the good times we had with everyone in 2020. When we look back some of these seem like a lifetime ago, before masks and social distancing were something we had ever thought of. The one thing that is consistent is smiles on faces, memories being made, and passion being discovered.... To everyone that contributed to our success in 2020 we cannot thank you enough. From program and event sponsors and funders, our amazing volunteer team, a dedicated staff that helped navigate it all, and of course the participants that are the reason behind everything we do we thank all of you for being a part of our year! We wish all of you a wonderful holidays season full of love and hopefully some time spend outdoors!

It is a proud moment when our volunteers and past participants are a part of the United Way Southern Interior BC 70th anniversary Stay at Home Gala! A huge shout out to the community that came together to help raise $70,000 for our local United Way. Our organization would not be where we are today without the support we have received from the UW in the past number of years, so thank you to everyone that has continued to support them! #soproud

#tbt the warmer longer days of the Fall. The time change brings the end of daylight a bit too early for our taste, which has us looking back over the photos from our #takeahike program when we could sneak in a hike after school before darkness fell. Thanks to Canadian Tire Jumpstart and the #sportrelieffund for helping us ensure that recreation opportunities were still available in our community. As one of over 650 organizations to benefit from the support it shows the strong support Jumpstart provides for recreation across the country.

It is moments like this that let us know we are doing the right thing. Last month we put a call out for snowshoes that people were not using anymore as we are looking at providing a snowshoe program this winter to help more young people get outside and find a passion and mentorship. As a response to this, one of our longest serving volunteers Craig Campbell shared the message to his friends and family. Together they pooled their money and combined to purchase us 9 brand new... pairs of snowshoes! We cannot thank everyone that contributed to this enough, as we are already seeing items like this fly off the shelves, and if we waited any longer we may have missed out on being able to put this program together for the winter. A big thank you to the team at Beyond The Crux Climbing Gym Inc. for opening up early last Friday to help us out. We had plans to take our #leadersinaction program climbing outside with Hoodoo Adventure Company but then #mothernature threw us a curveball! Climbing teaches skills like trust, communication, and coping with failure all while having fun and connecting with our volunteer mentors.
