Elevator design is not something many people think of. Even professional architects, urban planners and designers overlook their significance to modern buildings and cities as a whole. Over the past decade our team of vertical transportation specialists has worked to elevate the narrative around these little spaces in a big way. Below are 25 creative and unexpected elevator designs that will make you rethink your vertical commute. http://www.elevatorscenestudio.com//25-creative-elevator-d
So I’ve got some awesome news! My design company JNKM is nominated for the Elevator OSCARS! We are up against some pretty big companies but I'm still hopeful. Friday voting closes and I've only got a few more days left so I'm rallying friends and family like you to help. To vote, simply select the Interior Design category, then click on the company that you wish to vote for (cough cough) JNKM Design | Elevator Scene Studio. https://www.elevatorworld.com/elliesvote/
What a wonderful comparrison of the two buildings; both in their structural strengths but just as equally their poetics. I quite liked thinking of about the concrete columns of the Johnson Wax Administration Buiilding in contrast to the interdependant steel frame of the Larkin Building. In many ways they demonstrate Wrights confidence in developing new forms but also a confidence in architectural technology.
This project will be a touchstone for a lot of elevator guys, I anticipate that they’ll come from all over North America to see it in operation.
The combination of industrial style architecture with an Karim Rachid's unexpected Sonic-Maximalist Elevator Interiors affords the building just the right level of playful street cred for Berlin. https://www.elevatorscenestudio.com//karim-rachids-technor
Deeply honoured that 1908 Otis-Fensom Elevator project at 10 Adelaide Street East was nominated for the 2019 Heritage Toronto Awards. The industry expertise, along with the creative imagination of the entire team elevated what is far too often overlooked in architectural preservation -- the mechanical and functional equipment. The collective effort of everyone involved in the project however resulted in a truly honest celebration of architectural history, not only by preser...ving the aesthetics of a building, but the functional components that make living and working in a building possible. Louis Vuitton joins the forefront of luxury retailers who are rethinking level transition by designing bespoke elevator experiences. One of those special moments is a double-helix glass elevator that spirals up through three floors of a retail building in London, England. Powered by a 3 stop hydraulic drive, the circle platform scenic car travels a total height of 11.47m fitted with an integrated rotating conveyor belt that allows the cab to corkscrew up and down through th...e shaft. https://www.elevatorscenestudio.com//louis-vuittons-double
Recently visited the C.D. Howe Building in Ottawa and captured this great view. The building features double-deck elevator cars that rise the entire height of the interior atrium that is filled with greenery and a large waterfall underneath the bank. Anybody else know of double-deck elevators in Ottawa worth visiting?
Unlike every other space within, or outside of a building the elevator is the only room that travels through the building with you.

In a city full of big buildings, the addition of an exterior elevator is activating the vertical landscape in numerous ways. The aim of this project is to reinvent a skyscraper, but effects will be seen through the entire skyline as architects and property owners view the use of our existing building stock in new and playful ways. The elevator shaft and glass observatory is set to begin Spring 2019 with an expected completion for 2021. Once again elevators are reshaping the way we use and move through our urban environment. Stay tuned over next few years as proposals like this are going to become more common as property managers work to maximize on their physical real estate. http://www.elevatorscenestudio.com//chicago-skyscraper-to-
