Our country Ghana needs a new lease of life. Some fresh oil of service from its people. Selflessness , love for country, create a common "destiny" for all where... everyone's effort regardless of tribe, religion, education is rewarded. Those who claim to have fought for "Democracy" are the very people who have "raped" and continue to. Ghana has not moved a step forward since 1979. Some Individuals believe they are moving forward but at the expense of the people and nation. We cannot even keep up with the maintenance of facilities established before 1979 lest to add to them. Every new structure, factory you see in Ghana belongs to a foreigner. Every big car you see in Ghana belongs to a politician. There are more Land Cruiser V8s in Ghana than there are farm tractors. There are more church buildings than there are factories. Universities have become a profit making ventures/production lines, churning out graduates that cannot be employed. Now to add up to our woes we have an association of Unemployed Graduates with membership of over 100,000 still counting. I was just informed, the retired Kaya Yei and street hawkers association is under consideration. Membership circa 500,000. We are shouting irrigation for commercial farming when we have not been able to effectively utilise or preserve what we grow by the natural rains. Our post harvest loss is still hovering around 55-60%. I have been following this pattern since 1984. Ain't we becoming an embarrassment to our Creator. DEMOCRACY cannot be practiced by a confused people. It is just like asking a totally drunk man to paint your house. Note that he is starting from your living room. The cycle of deception has been tolerated for too long. Whoever is responsible for our independence is only part of our history and not what we become in the future. All I know is Kwame Nkrumah become the first LEADER of independent Ghana and the GOOD he did for this country has never been matched till today. More effort and resource has been and is being spent to destroy his legacy than to advance it. To be continued.
