The Green Party is now two thirds women, the highest female ratio of any federal party caucus in Canadian history! Introducing Jenica Atwin for Fredericton 2019, a community-first activist concerned about homelessness, addiction and poverty. I can't wait for us to get to work.
The continued construction puts the health of workers and Indigenous communities at risk. Canadian health officials have urged the public to stay home. Why should oil & gas corporations get a free pass to endanger the health of these remote areas?
Andrew Scheer just called Indigenous demonstrators standing in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en a small group of radical activists. I have a message for him.
$16 Billion. That’s how much the TMX pipeline will cost Canadians. That’s money that could build hospitals, schools and affordable housing.... At this point, we’re not just selling our environment (and future) to Big OIl. We’re bribing them to take it.
Yesterday, I stood with the Indigenous organizers and activists demanding an end to the Teck Frontier Mine, the largest proposed oil sands mine in Canada. We need to respect Indigenous rights and end this climate-killing project. : Philippe Roberge, philroberge.com
My letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, ahead of the 43rd parliament. Dear Prime Minister, Many thanks for taking the time to speak with me on October 22, 2019....Continue reading
Greens did incredibly well for being up against first past the post, but this illustrates just how badly we need a better voting system. Would you support a ranked ballot? Correction: 1.2 times the vote
We ran an amazing campaign. To everyone who volunteered, pitched in, donated and help drive our incredible momentum: thank you. There's still time to vote Green!
There's still time to make history! Your actions today could make the difference.
Help me out. Vote Green. To be clear: climate action is about people. We’re investing in affordable housing, a guaranteed livable income and social programs funded by taxing the ultra wealthy.
A lot has been said about us, but here's the truth:
We're tree huggers, and proud of it. But climate action is always about people. It's about ending poverty. It's about Indigenous rights. It's about equity. It's about our very survival. Today is the most important election in Canadian history. The people elected today will determine the direction our country takes, in the face of the greatest challenge our species has ever faced. I'll be honest: I hate politics. But I saw a political landscape that wasn't wasn't respecting th...e natural world and wasn't working for people, and so I stepped up. It hasn't always been easy. Most of my political career has been spent as a lone Green MP (until Paul Manly won in Nanaimo!). I've worked my heart out, to make life better for everyone. Two years ago, I'm proud to say, I achieved the most amendments to legislation of any other MP in Canadian history. I saw that legislation needed to be improved and so I worked to improve it, across party lines. My fellow MPs have voted me the hardest working Parliamentarian. I do this because I care. I do this because we need to start prioritizing people over money. Today, I'm asking you to help put more Greens in Parliament, to back me up, so we can speak truth to power, and hold the other parties to account. Green momentum keeps surging, even in the face of attacks trying to keep us down. Greens have been winning in provinces across the country, and driving forward historic climate action and social programs. When Paul Manly became the second-elected Green MP, the Liberals and the NDP snapped into action and declared a climate emergency. This is it. This is the climate election. I've dedicated my life to a safe climate, Indigenous rights, and a fair chance for everyone. Today, be part of something big. This election, vote Green.
I'm committed to the Green Party driving Indigenous rights forward. Climate action ALWAYS includes Indigenous leadership and justice.
When scientists tell you something, it's important to listen. David always calls it like he sees it. And he's voting Green.
No more stolen sisters. Thank you to Butterflies in Spirit for bringing awareness to the genocide of Indigenous women, girls and Two-spirit people.
Because of Justin Trudeau's betrayal, tomorrow's vote won't reflect the will of the people. The only way to make sure we get proportional representation, is to put Greens in Parliament.
Breaking: Greens announce plan to make democracy more fair. Because of Justin Trudeau's broken promise, tomorrow's election result won't reflect the will of voters. Greens in Parliament will fight for proportional representation, to make this the last election under first past the post. For real this time.
Affordability is a huge part of the climate equation, to make sure climate action works for everyone. Check out the platform analysis from Generation Squeeze, an advocacy organization working towards more affordability in Canada.
Indigenous people are telling us what needs to be done. It's time to listen, and do it. That's why the Green Party will always fight for a full implementation of the calls of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit report, the Truth and Reconciliation report, UNDRIP and all of the official priorities of the Assembly of First Nations. We can absolutely afford to do it. After centuries of colonial oppression, that still leaves so many in poverty, Canada has no excuse not to.
I love meeting young voters! I do this for them, and their future.
Important words from Ken Wu, known for his work protecting old growth forests! Thanks Ken!
Know anyone in Vancouver? Come out and see me, David Suzuki, special musical artists and more! We're about to make history!
Funding cities will be key to solving the climate crisis. As it stands, they are at the mercy of premiers.
