Why is comparison such a silent and persistent issue? We compare our thoughts, our expressions, our accomplishments, our looks, on and on and on. I look daily at social media posts, sometimes obsessively. I look at what coaches are doing, what consulting firms are doing, what leadership developers are saying. What am I doing it for? Ay first I thought "I need to know what others in the industry are doing and saying", but over time I realized I had again been blinded by compar...ison. I was locking myself back into a prison and was not performing into my capabilities. I tried to measure up to the imaginary standard I created through comparison. I believe our abilities are a gift. A gift means I did not generate it on my own, I merely participate with my effort. That's my faith, and it takes faith. The danger of comparison is that we don't do what we're intended to because we don't feel it measures up to others- we ignore our gifts. This lack of gratitude will create a blockage in our over all effectiveness. If you're like me in this area, stop for a moment. You are you for a reason, no one else can go out there and be you. That's your job- you were made just for that. -Ryan
