Holding hands with you is like a promise that we don't have to face the world alone. Support in life is so important. Having that person that you know you can run to with anything, that you can be real with, be vulnerable with. In birth, it's only moreos. Aside from looking pretty darn neat (fetal side pictured here), the placenta provides both oxygen and nutrients to a growing fetus. This plate sized organ works to pump blood to baby until the cord is cut. Delayed cord clamping allows the blood from the placenta to continue being transferred to the baby even after they are born. This means that the baby could receive up to *30%* more blood than they would have without it. DID YOU KNOW? Moving positions during labour can decrease your experience of pain, can assist baby moving into a more favourable position. And squatting can change the entire dimensions of your pelvis, which can be helpful both for babe dropping into the pelvis and during pushing. Even if you can't get up and out of bed, many birthers can adopt a squatting position in the bed by dropping the foot and/or adding a squat bar. Or a yoga ball can be added beside the bed to help ...mimic the same position for birthers who maybe can't wander far from their monitors.
