So many of us have experienced death in the last year. For some it’s the death of a dream or our plans, for others it’s the death of a relationship or a loved one. During this pandemic, fear surround us on all sides. We can't ignore it. Can't avoid it. ... So Jesus shows us what to do with our pain. Eucharist Church will be hosting Stations on the Street for Holy Week (now until Easter Sunday). This visual meditation, created by artist Scott Erickson, offers an opportunity for our neighbourhood and city to name our pain together, and hold out hope for something new on the other side of suffering. Come by 130 Victoria Ave N any time in the next week to see the installation, and be sure to come back again after Easter, because all this death and grief... it doesn't get the final word. Thanks for to Lily and Nate for wheat-pasting, and to Scott for making this art accessible. #stationsinthestreet

Holy Week is coming up soon! In case you're new to this, the week leading up to Easter is traditionally called "Holy Week" and involves "Psalm Sunday" (March 28), Good Friday (April 2) and Easter Sunday (April 4). Jill Trites and I made a little video walking through our plans, and also give an update on some VERY exciting work being done on the building right now. ... Over the last few weeks we've seen the worst of what Christianity can look like: Nationalist, racist, arrogant and even violent. In light of those horrors, you might be tempted to walk away from it all. But perhaps there is another way. Over the next few months in Eucharist, our Wednesday evening services are going to explore what this can look like. Each week we'll take an element of the Christian faith and explore what it would look like to reclaim it." From doctrine to ...evangelism, morning devotions to praise music, we’ll name the ways these gifts have been corrupted by unclean spirits like colonialism and coercion, and explore through liturgy, sermons, and conversation how we can reclaim every piece of Christianity as a force for good. Each week will include a 45-minute service, followed by the opportunity to join a break out group with the same people each week. There you’ll be able to share insights, questions, and build connections. (Note, breakout groups will begin on Wednesday, January 20th) It's my hope that, in the end, we'll be equipped to say yes to the difficult challenge before us, and discover, by the Spirit, a more Christ-like Christianity. We kick off tonight by looking at religion itself: Reclaiming Christianity. Whether you've been a part of Eucharist for years or never connected, we'd love to have you join us. Merry Christmas from Eucharist Church. The incredibly talented Lena B made this visual reflection on the last ten months. False gods are all around us, begging for worship, but the Christ child calls us through the noise and clutter, into a life of service and mercy, prayer and protest. Whatever battles you find yourself in this Christmas, today, may you be still, and allow the Lord to fight for you.... Merry Christmas.

Tonight we're talking about the one thing that's going to get us through this. We're talking about love. A contemplative service, with some great songs and beautiful poetry and prayers, as well as a short reflection on the relationship between love and knowledge. Tonight at 8pm. Link on our website.

A classic part of a Christmas Eve service is when everyone lights up the darkness together. Typically, starting with a central light (the Christ candle), the congregation will passes the flame from one to another, allowing us to illuminate the dark room, one person at a time. While covid disrupts our ability to gather in person, it presents us with a new opportunity to light up more than one sanctuary. Whatever your Christmas Eve plans, if you’re in the Hamilton area we w...elcome you to light up the city with us. Share this image, get the word out there, and let's light it up!

Hello Eucharist family and beloved neighbours! Tonight our church is gathering online to talk about what we can do to have an "unbusy Advent." We'll be going through an exercise that I found SO helpful, which can help us keep the most important things... the most important things. You are welcome to join us, even if you're not normally a church person. We'll be gathering at 8pm and the link is on our website, but also is here:... https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84434405205

Well, who didn't see this one coming? Hamilton has moved into Ontario's "red zone" category, which means we are going to be pausing our in-person services. Read more about why, and what we are doing now, below.

Our weekly gatherings now include a morning prayer time, from 6:30-7am Monday and Wednesday. This simple liturgy, rooted in the book of common prayer, is accessible to anyone, and a great way to add some structure to your prayer life and schedule.

While our services have moved to evenings midweek (and we'd love to have you join in person or online), that doesn't mean Sunday has to become another busy day filled with work and errands. Make it a sabbath! New to the idea of sabbath? Watch this video by our friends at BibleProject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFTLvkB3JLM
