The divorce process will be speedier if the couple is willing to work toward a mutually acceptable compromise. However, most couples are unwilling or unable to reach a settlement point.... Even if the couple’s initial intentions are good, the details can unravel during the conversations on financial affairs, and issues relating to custody or support. When there is a break down often couples must resort to some sort of mediation, arbitration or commonly, the Ontario Family Court. If there isn’t a resolution, then it proceeds to litigation. Then it will take at least a year and even up to 3 year for a final resolution. However, there are many divorce professionals that can help you along the process to make it faster.
