The first step in my daily morning routine is to prepare a new batch of fermented grain aka chicken kambucha. 2 scoops of mixed grains and legumes (flax, wheat seed, barley, corn, oats, split peas ... whatever) which gets steeped in water for 3 days before being slipped on the grass for the girls. The birds eat this first then fill up their gullets on 18% layer pellets. The benefits of fermented grains can be found online. Healthier birds laying brighter, more nutritious eggs.

This pic was taken Sunday morning in the pasture - moving the coop to a new green spot has become the Sunday morning ritual. Decked out in her new farm girl hat Barb cleans out the coop too. A cleaner coop means cleaner eggs.

Got 5 holes full of Bobs. Each hole will have 5-6 cocoons before being mudded over by the mamma. Blue Orchard Bees will pollinate over 3000 plants EVERY DAY within 300 feed of their nest compared to only 30 stops by honey bees. Interesting and useful critters if you’re growing apples.
