I've got to say that I have learned to love Mondays and I actually look forward to them . Getting up early, doing some deep work and getting in a workout really sets me up for momentum through the week . But I didn't feel this way until I cleaned up my weekends... . And while not all weekends are created equal, I always make sure Sunday is a healthy day with some time spent in nature . I also spend time planning the week ahead. My meals, my workout times, my deep work blocks, any social activities. They all go in the schedule . And the most important part? 8-9 hours of sleep on Sunday night!! This is the key . Think about your youngest years. You were outside from after school until the sun went down . You played in the sun, you played in the snow, you played in the rain . You walked everywhere and pretty much everything revolved around being active... . Things slowed down through High School and University but you still had less responsibility and hit the gym every day or were outside doing stuff with friends . Now you have a sedentary job, kids, responsibility and a very limited time budget for exercise (among other things holding you back) . Yes your metabolism slows down as you age, but it's not the reason you aren't losing weight . You don't need the time you used to but you'll have to be sure to take it when you can get it. . Take the stairs, park further away, get up from your desk for 5 minutes every hour, budget 30 minutes for a workout daily and focus on managing your nutrition for your goals . It takes more purposeful action, but it is doable! See more

Here are some great pushing exercises that should be a staple of your routine . Pushing exercises generally work a great combination of chest, shoulders and triceps and are super efficient . For strength, you will want to be in the 1-5 reps range. As always, it is important to say that it is very simple, it's just not easy . There is not one food, food group, macro or lifestyle habit that is making you gain weight . You are just eating too many calories for YOU to lose weight and your number is going to be different than everyone else around you... . To put it in perspective, the cream in your coffee maybe adds 50 calories to your day. If 3500 calories if a pound, it would take you 70 days of cream in your coffee to gain a pound directly because of that . It is the sum of everything you put in your body that is putting you over your calories, not one thing or another. And no it's not carbs, fat or protein. They all have calories . If you ate only carbs and were in a calorie deficit you would lose weight . If you ate only fat and were in a calorie deficit you would lose weight . If you ate only protein and were in a calorie deficit you would lose weight . You wouldn't feel very good doing any of those things but you would lose weight . So how to fix this? . If you are currently staying the same or gaining and can safely and sustainably add an hour of exercise a week (walking counts) do that. . After 3 weeks get on the scale. If you've lost weight and feel good, keep doing what you are doing. . If you have stayed the same or gained, reduce 250 calories per day. . After 3 weeks get on the scale. If you've lost weight and feel good, keep doing what you are doing. . If you stayed the same or gained, go back to step one for the exercise. . Alternate and repeat these steps until you are losing weight and feeling awesome while doing it. . That is how you find what works for you and is sustainable. See more
