SPRING SEMESTER--DELAYED (JANUARY 18TH) Taking into consideration the concerns expressed by numerous dance families, and sharing the opinion of our senior teaching staff, we have made the difficult decision to further delay the start of our spring semester by an additional week. *** With this, classes will now resume on Monday, January 18th (though this date is subject to reevaluation).... Given the current state of the COVID health crisis, with cases increasing in the weeks following Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year's Eve, we feel it best to wait an additional week in an effort to avoid the worst of the post-holiday surge. Though we have full confidence in our protocols to ensure the safety of our students and staff, we feel that reopening on Monday, January 11th would be ill-advised given the realities of the current situation. In an effort to respect the recommended two week isolation period following the busy holiday season, a January 18th reopening affords us some much needed breathing room and peace of mind. To offset this delay, our spring semester will be extended an additional week in June 2021, through to Saturday, June 26th. For those of you returning from the fall semester, your January tuition will process on Monday the 18th, provided classes resume as planned. We realize that this will come as a disappointment to many, and we apologize. In an effort to act responsibly, it is necessary to prioritize the safety of our clientele and staff. We are also eager to return to the classroom and we can only hope that the curve begins to flatten as we move toward February. CLASSES RESUME! In a surprise press conference today, health officials announced a number of updates to the province-wide restrictions governing indoor physical activity and sport. Youth programs (including dance classes) are now permitted to run, effective immediately: "Structured extracurricular activities and programs for people under 19 years of age can continue to operate with a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place and must be supervised by an adult." Be sure to refresh the page if you have visited before, as it may otherwise display outdated info: https://www2.gov.bc.ca//covid-19-provincial-/restrictions ***Classes resume tomorrow, on Friday, December 4th. This includes the Friday morning Junior classes at 10am and 11am. Apologies for the short notice! As our existing COVID-19 protocols meet (and often exceed) the necessary requirements, these shall remain in effect as outlined in our safety plan. This includes mandatory masking at all times, even during class. Our fall semester will continue as scheduled through to December 19th. The studio will then close as planned for the remainder of the holiday season, reopening with the start of our new semester in January 2021. IMPORTANT: Though classes resume tomorrow, billing will be delayed until Monday, December 7th. Should you wish to adjust your enrollment, please contact office staff prior to next Monday. If you plan to attend through to the end of the semester, no further action is required. Note that December tuition will be prorated to account for all missed classes. Though we are pleased to be back in session, the well-being of our students and staff remains our top priority. Social distancing, masking, and strict sanitization are now more important than ever. SPRING SEMESTER REGISTRATION Our 2020/21 season resumes with the start of our spring semester on Monday, January 11th. Registration is now available online at excaliburarts.com--select the "Classes" menu to view availability by age or discipline. Ongoing recreational classes welcome new students, beginner to advanced, ages 3 and up. Due to strict health and safety protocols, class sizes are extremely limited. Enroll now, don't miss out!... If you took part in our recent Purdys holiday fundraiser, your chocolates are expected to arrive tomorrow and orders will be ready for pickup shortly thereafter. The Excalibur Dance Shoppe will be open on both Friday and Saturday this week. Studio staff will be available at the following times: Friday, November 27th from 3pm to 6:30pm... Saturday, November 28th from 10am to 2pm As with all indoor retail spaces, masks are mandatory! Please note that classes remain temporarily suspended in compliance with the recent public health order. There will be no classes in session until we receive additional guidance from provincial authorities, which is expected no later than Monday, November 30th.

The studio is now CLOSED for the holiday season: Monday, December 21st through to Saturday, January 9th--there will be no classes in session. The start of our spring semester is delayed one week as a safety precaution, classes resume on Monday, January 11th, 2021. Stay safe and happy holidays!

TEMPORARY CLOSURE--EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY Late last night (on Monday, November 23rd), British Columbia's Provincial Health Officer issued an update to the recent province-wide restrictions. Previously, dance studios were permitted to continue operations while awaiting new guidance from public health officials. That is no longer the case, as of this morning. As per the gov.bc.ca website: Venues that organize or operate group physical activities (not otherwise listed as high ris...k) must suspend them temporarily while new guidance is being developed. This includes dance studios. The updated order can be found on British Columbia's Province-wide restrictions page, under Athletic activities: https://www2.gov.bc.ca//covid-19-provincial-/restrictions In compliance with the above information, out of an abundance of caution and effective immediately, we are temporarily suspending all classes. The studio will be closed until further notice. The situation is frustrating, unclear, and constantly changing. As mentioned on the government website, venues will have the opportunity to submit an updated COVID-19 Safety Plan once new public health guidance is provided by the province. Of course, when this becomes an option, we will do so immediately. In the meantime, we shall continue communicating with officials as we await further information and instruction.
