Santa Claus is Coming to Town! Tomorrow starting at 6pm starting at the Exeter Fire Hall. We want everyone to have a great time and have a chance to see santa so we ask that everyone stay in their household bubbles and if they dont live on the route stay in your vehicle amd watch from the safety of your car as this is social distancing is required. Seeing Santa this year will be very different with his visit not being preceeded by a parade of floats but i do know he is very excited to be seeing everyone in this different way.

This coming Saturday morning the South Huron Fire Department will be undertaking a HUGE One Day Food Drive from 9am-12pm. The Fire Department Detachments will be in Dashwood, Centralia, Crediton, Huron Park and Exeter in an effort to fill the shelves of the Exeter Community Food Bank, Exeter, Ontario. The schedule for Santa Claus is Coming to Town! on November 21 will be as follows. 6pm from the Exeter Fire Department building on William Street the fire department, Santa Claus and his entourage will depart heading south and run all the way to Huron Street West. (1.28 km). We are allotting 30 min for this section. 6:30pm the cavalcade will make it’s way West on Huron Street until they reach Mary Street (0.5km) We are allotting 10 min for this section of the trip... 6:40pm the next section will take us South on Mary Street which will turn into Waterloo Street. We will take this road till we reach Hwy 4 (1km). We expect this section to take approximately 20 minutes. 7pm the group of vehicles will head north on hwy 4/main street south to the lights at Huron Street and turn right on to Huron Street East and travel to Pryde Street. (845m) 20 minutes has been estimated for travelling this distance with walkers and slow moving vehicles 7:20pm the Santa Claus is coming to Town group of vehicles and walkers will move South down Pryde Street to Sanders St E. (0.5km) which we have allotted 10 minutes to travel 7:30pm The group will turn Left onto Sanders Street East to Andrew Street. (0.5km) which we expect to take another 10 minutes 7:40pm The float and vehicles will turn right and travel North on Andrew Street to the end of the Street at McNaughton Drive. (0.5km) which will take about 10 minutes. 7:50pm The final stretch will turn the group left, heading West on McNaughton Drive, move across Hwy 4 and turn back on to William and to the Fire Hall. (335m) which should take between 5 and 10 minutes depending on the traffic that the group must get through when crossing Hwy 4/Main Street. 8pm back at the Fire Hall. Please provide for social distancing, bring non-perishable food items if you are able and leave them at the curb and most importantly BE PREPARED TO SEE SANTAAAA

Mayor's Message on Remembrance Day in South Huron Hello Everyone, Today we pause to reflect on the sacrifices made in defense of Canadian values and the freedoms afforded to us by the bravery of those who served, and those who continue to serve, our great nation.... This year’s Remembrance Day commemoration will feel a little different as we face a different fight to keep each other safe from the spread of COVID-19. Although we cannot be together, we are still united in our cause. We will continue to safeguard our most vulnerable by following the guidance of our healthcare professionals. United, we will continue to build up our community through acts of respect, compassion and kindness. All municipal flags are flying at half-staff today in an act of solemn remembrance that our freedoms are a gift but also an enduring responsibility that requires our attention. Lest we forget. After many phone calls and letters being written to the big man himself we can confirm Santa Claus is Coming to Town! While this year he will not be lead around by the floats and bands that he has been in the past we are thrilled that he has agreed to make his way around the residential streets of Exeter on a 6km route. This year, thanks to the incredible hard work of the Exeter Lions Club, Scouts Canada Exeter, South Huron Fire DepartmentT and the Exeter BIA with the guidan...ce of the Huron Perth Public Health Unit we have created a route that will ensure there is space for families from outside of town to join us safely while practicing social distancing and give the opportunity for Santa to see you and you to see Santa. As part of Santa's trip around town he has asked for your support in helping the Exeter Community Food Bank, Exeter, Ontario fill their shelves and help those in need. The South Huron Fire Department will be putting on their biggest food drive ever on the morning of November 21 from 9am - 12pm in Exeter, Dashwood and Centralia, Crediton and Huron Park and Santa wants to help those that wont be home at that time by asking for donations in the evening. Please ensure your donations are in a bag and at the curb for pick up by the incredible Scouts and volunteers to pick up.
