TODAY! Logging old-growth directly violates Extinction Rebellions's second demand to Act Now. Cutting down ancient forests not only destroys the rarest and most biodiverse habitat we have. It also trashes an extremely effective carbon sink and disturbs the soil, resulting in further CO2 emissions, said Kelly Tatham, a volunteer with Extinction Rebellion. These trees are a vital component of mitigating catastrophic warming and biodiversity loss on the planet and they deserve to be respected as ancient living beings - not ravaged for consumption. #ExtinctionRebellion #XR #SpringRebellion #RebelForLife #Cdnpoli #BCpoli #ClimateEmergency #BiosphereCollapse

OK FOLKS, you must PLANT MILKWEED this spring: And, apply online before Feb 5 to volunteer for David Suzuki’s pollinator rejuvenation project: The Butterflywa...y Project is a volunteer-led movement growing highways of habitat for bees and butterflies across Canada. Deadline to apply for program: Feb 5. APPLY AT THIS LINK: https://davidsuzuki.org//act-locally/butterflyway/national/ Milkweed is the ONLY food for the monarch caterpillar. It’s been systematically wiped out for years. It is a beautiful plant, and fun for children, with pods of fluffy seeds. We rely on bees and butterflies for the pollination of flowers to grow vegetables and fruits. Pesticides and herbicides (glyphosate) are threatening pollinators and in turn, us. Spread the word and join Suzuki’s program at the link above.
