June is Cataract Awareness Month. Cataracts are the result of the normally clear lens in your eye becoming cloudy. They can vary from extremely small areas of cloudiness to large opaque areas that cause a noticeable reduction in vision. https://bit.ly/37aM6mU

If you wear glasses, you know the struggle! Once you put that mask on and enter into public and touch surfaces it is important that you do not touch your mask, face or glasses with unwashed hands! Here is a quick video to help with fogging glasses! We currently carry a limited stock of anti-fog solution. If you would like to purchase some, please call ahead to check the availability.

We are happy to announce that we have re-opened our office and are now booking routine eye exams. Please be patient as we work to reschedule all appointments that had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. As a result of the recent pandemic, we have modified the way that we're seeing patients, to minimize unnecessary contact for patients, doctors and staff. We request that if you have any symptoms, such as fever, cough, sore throat, or shortness of breath, or if you have travelled... within the past 14 days or been exposed to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID that you please refrain from visiting our office at this time. If you are interested in purchasing new eyewear or having your glasses adjusted or repaired, please contact our office to schedule an appointment with one of our optical staff. As we move into Stage 2 of BC Restart, optometry clinics are preparing to resume routine care on May 19. While urgent and emergency care are essential, so is preventative care. The best time to detect disease is before it has caused much damage. The doctors and staff at Eye Care Nanaimo will be working hard to help patients that have issues they have been waiting to address, follow-ups needed, and routine wellness exams to schedule.
