Last night's meeting was a success! Our valued City Park Planner Richard Fortin also noticed that we were missing hockey nets and a basketball hoop! Half a dozen or so people came out to give input. We were also contacted by local reporter Paul Henderson for an update on the story today! Nice to share another piece of positive news with Chilliwack! <3

Fairfield Island Residents for Emerald Park are thrilled to announce that the City of Chilliwack has approved funding for a new playground structure! Their planning team will be working with our neighbourhood in the upcoming week or so to pick out playground equipment! THANK YOU to everyone who signed the petition, got involved by making telephone calls to City Hall, shared and joined this cause. TOGETHER we are powerful, and create positive change in our community. The big...gest shout out goes to City of Chilliwack for their swift response to their community's concerns. We have such hardworking, good people representing us. What a cause for celebration!

The general consensus of messages that we have been receiving is that we need to contact City Hall to expedite this process! MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD or our park play structure will be not be reinstated in a timely fashion. Please telephone or email Richard Fortin. [email protected] 604-793-2904. Comment below when you have done so, so that we can keep track of the contacts that have been made.

We just finished shooting a video at Emerald Park with local videographer Matt Hawkins Two of us local residents joined Sam Waddington to speak up about our need to have the play structure at Emerald Park replaced in a timely fashion. Please share our petition, and comment below if you'd be willing to write a letter to take to City Hall!

Good morning everyone! Progress has been made on moving towards the replacement of our lovely park's playground equipment! The City of Chilliwack has given a rough estimate of costs involved, and potential timelines for the replacement of Emerald Park's playground equipment. ... If we fund raise half of the cost of the playground equipment ($25,000), it will expedite the process considerably. We can also apply pressure by putting together a petition and doing a presentation at City Hall. Envision Financial has promised to see if they can turn up any grant money, and has offered to lend tents, popcorn machine or to provide gift baskets for any fundraising efforts.
