Now Offering Telehealth Services We are happy to announce that clients requiring therapeutic psychological services for children and families can now video-visit our Psychologists online through Medeo, a secure video-conferencing technology that connects practitioners with their clients. All you need is a computer (with webcam), tablet or smartphone as well as a high-speed internet connection. Video visits are perfect for challenges such as our current state of emergency, in...clement weather, long distances, and clients with busy schedules or other difficulties with in-person visits. To get started, just like any other visit, contact our Office Manager, Kim MacKenzie, at 902-354-4660 to book (or re-schedule) an appointment. Once we've arranged an appointment time, you will receive an email invitation which will guide you through the simple sign-up process. Our office remains open until closure is recommended by the Department of Health or our governing associations (Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia and/or Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology). We are able to provide phone conferencing/support when deemed necessary and appropriate. We are working diligently to minimize risk while still offering Mental Health Services: on site we have removed reading materials and toys from our waiting area, and have provide...d disposable cups in place of mugs. We are frequently sanitizing surfaces, using hand-sanitizer and engaging in frequent hand-washing. To ensure continuation of a hygienic environment, we are asking that clients refrain from entering our office if they or someone with whom they have been in contact have traveled outside of the country and not self-isolated for 14 days. We are also asking clients with symptoms including fever and/or dry cough to call and reschedule appointments. Please do not enter the office. When problem-solving with your loved-ones, is there a lot of interrupting which only leads to more frustration and blow-ups? Reflect on how you listen... model waiting, reflecting back what you hear, and checking in with your child that you have heard and understand them before moving on to your point of view. Encourage them to do the same. Validation of thoughts and feelings is an important part of healthy relationships!
