Remember a while back, when I told you all about the Paint the Barn Red project in Mountainview County? Well it is all happening this weekend, the book launch and peoples choice favourite. Sadly, due to Covid, the voting has had to move online. But if you could vote for our barn, painted by the wonderful local artist Pamela Mongomery, that would be awesome. Here's all the info about how to vote. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2751725765144793&id=2004653426518701

Is Velvet messing (literally) with me, or does she really not know how to use the water bowls? Pretty much all the cows have them figured out (after over a year), like Kinsey at the :33 mark. She shows how it's done! Anyone have kids in your house, that seem to create work for you at every turn? Haha Oh, and watch for the sloppy kiss at the end!

Find out Friday episode #44 Do cows have 4 stomachs? Yes and no. Yes, if you believe popular culture, no in reality! They have one stomach with 4 compartments. As a ruminent, they can eat a large volume of feed in a short time, and then deal with digesting it all day. The video links I shared are very informative. https://youtu.be/b3fZNlNTNf0... This is a kid's informational video: https://youtu.be/iHpVGJ2RhDk A couple of stomach issues in cows: Hardware disease. Cows can pick up metal when they are grazing and it can eventually puncture their innards. Farmers will put a magnet down into their rumen to attract any metal they inadvertently injest. It will stay in there for their entire life. Twisted stomach: also known as displaced abomasum. This is a condition that can occur after calving, and requires a veterinary to perform a somewhat simple surgery to basically "untwist" things. The calf had taken up quite a large space in the abdomen of the cow, and after calving, and before everything can rearrange itself, sometimes things go awry.

Charlize, our newest calf reminds you about our Find out Fridays. (We have had 43 episodes in 2020, so scroll back on our page to see them all. ) What are you wondering about, and what would you like to see pictures of on our page? These are real requests, not rhetorical ones. Please comment once or twice or thrice even! My question pool is empty.
