Every time I hear a birthing person talk about "attempting" a VBAC/ TOLAC, it's like nails on a chalkboard for me. It is so disempowering. I’m not attempting m...arriage even though divorce rates are high. We make a plan, we show up, we give it our all, and see how it plays out knowing that there are always variables that we can’t control. It is a leap of faith. But you are planning a labor after cesarean. No matter how your birth plays out, there is so much strength in that decision. Own it! Download my VBAC planning checklist: vbacfacts.com/checklist Learn more: "Four loaded words that may sting VBAC hopeful parents" https://vbacfacts.com//attempting-vbac-failed-vbac-tolac-/ #vbac #vbacfacts #mindset #LAC #TOLAC #language #doula #midwifery #midwiferycare #laboranddeliverynurse #obgyn #birthprofessional #birthprofessionals #birthoptions #pregnancy #informedchoice

We know this has been a very challenging time for our clients and their partners. It’s been especially difficult for partners to feel connected and involved in ...prenatal care. Here are some ideas to help partners feel included. Ask your midwife if you’d like to video call your partner in to your visits or record the heartbeat. Do you have any other ideas how to help partners feel included in prenatal care during a pandemic? #prenatalcare #midwiferycare #pandemic #pregnant #pregnantinapandemic #babies #birth #empoweredbirth #partners #babyheartbeat #pregnancy #midwives #midwifery #canadianmidwives

Repost from @pandemicpregnancyguide This post does a great job outlining the current statements and recommendations from NACI and SOGC regarding the Covid vacc...ine and pregnancy. If you have any questions please discuss with your midwife or healthcare provider. What is the latest on the COVID-19 vaccine and pregnant/breastfeeding individuals in Canada? December 21, 2020 Update. Most recent statements from Health Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI), as well the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) NACI’s Bottom Line: The COVID-19 vaccine should not be offered to pregnant or breastfeeding individuals until further evidence is available. However, if a risk assessment deems that the benefits outweigh potential risks it may be offered for both of these groups. SOGC’s Bottom Line: For individuals who are at high risk of infection and/or morbidity from COVID-19, it is the SOGC’s position that the documented risk of not getting the COVID-19 vaccine outweighs the theorized and undescribed risk of being vaccinated during pregnancy or while breastfeeding and vaccination should be offered. We currently still have no human data to speak to the risks of the vaccine for the pregnant individual or the fetus, but also no data that would warrant a contraindication to use in pregnancy at this time.
