Copper Cliff's First Building. Seated on the cabin deck wearing a straw hat on the far right of the photograph is George Parker Fielding. George was born in Market Drayton near Manchester, United Kingdom on January 2nd, 1858. During the silver boom in Cobalt, Ontario George Fielding prospected with Jim Baggat. The prospector is sitting to the left of George on a log.... Jim Avery, a legendary practical joker, is standing wearing a vest, holding a muzzle-loading rifle to the left of Jim Baggot. The person in the white shirt and brown hat holding an axe on the far left side is unknown. This photograph was taken by a travelling photographer in 1880.

Carman and Sandy Fielding and Family have worked hard to contribute to our community and continue to do so with generous donations like the one they recently gifted to Health Sciences North / Horizon Santé-Nord This $500,000 donation towards new MRI equipment will benefit thousands of patients who will receive access to advanced medical equipment and allow patients to receive diagnoses and care in a timely manner. Congratulations to HSN on receiving this fantastic donation! Thank you to Carman and Sandy Fielding and Family for this large donation to the Northern Ontario Community. Without people like you, our community wouldn’t be where it is today.

In 1977, the Fielding family donated 40 acres of land to the Municipality of Walden known as the Agnes & George Fielding Memorial Park. The land was originally donated for the use and enjoyment of the area residents and for protection of wildlife. Today, it is home of the Fielding Bird Sanctuary, a playground for children and accessible walking trails for people to enjoy the natural ecosystems. Pictured below is Clifford Fielding, George Fielding, Carmen Sr. Fielding, Frank Fielding and Cecil Fielding on the day the park was inaugurated.
