The RAN has been ahead of the RCN and RNZN by a few years when it comes to joint synthetic training activities. However, this year marks a key milestone in joint distributed mission training capabilities for the RCN, in that the RCN will join the our Australian and American friends for the largest annual Navy Synthetic Exercise happening this year - FST-J 21-72. Looking forward to it!!!

Operation Argon Glow complete. Last week, personnel from the RCN and RCAF participated in a Virtual Task Group Exercise which saw six ships combat teams (from East and West Fleets), a submarine crew, a CP-140 Aurora Maritime Patrol Aircraft crew, and two CH-148 Cyclone crews playing in a common virtual war game. The submarine simulator even played with the opposition forces a few times to keep things interesting for the others! This represents the largest VTGEX to date fo...r the RCN and RCAF, and for the first time, live participation by ships alongside in Halifax and Esquimalt simultaneously. Train as you fight!

It’s great to see RCN-USN relationships remain strong! As the RCN DMOC prepares for CCFL’s Virtual TGEX next week, we are also looking ahead to preparing for our biggest Fleet Synthetic Training event yet - joining the USN and RAN this summer in an international mission rehearsal event. It’s all part of using modern synthetic technologies to exercise with our allies around the globe.
