How are we all doing, mid-winter 2019? For those of us faithfully checking daily weather forecasts hoping for unseasonally mild weather, I offer up a "hang in there - spring will eventually show up...I hope..." Nevertheless, on we go, planning our new year, booking our shows and getting busy in our studios. If you are in Halifax on a Saturday, stop by the Seaport Market for a visit. Night lights, push pins, magnets, ornaments and anything else that comes to mind...

Each Christmas season, Fog Bank Studio brings fresh greenery, berries and holiday decorations to the Halifax Seaport Market (outside). In additional to selling our popular bundles of fresh wild holly with inkberry and greenery, our bundles of fresh broome, fresh bayberry and fresh inkberry, we brought in 5ft and 7ft mixed greenery swags as well as a huge range of fresh wreaths, each individually designed. Our greenery is personally harvested and assembled just before the weekly market to keep everything as fresh as possible. Our wreaths are handmade by our family in Liverpool, NS. We begin to take orders by October of each year. Inside, we have a selection of holiday ornaments. Creative ideas are always welcome!

Greetings and Happy Spring! Last week when the temperature rose to 28 degrees I braved the still icy cold ocean water and walked the local beach in my bare feet.. it was bliss even though my toes charlie-horsed. Fog Bank has now added an active inventory to the "Shop" on the sidebar. These items are available for immediate purchase. CONGRATULATIONS to Cindy MacLean and Denise Meade on opening a fabulous new shop in Mahone Bay, NS called MyHome Bay! If you are venturing to the beautiful South Shore for a day trip or just want the news on a unique place to shop, check them out. They have a wide assortment of artwork, beach-y and coastal housewares, gifts and apparel, fresh flowers, East Coast Lifestyles designs and much more. Its my new favorite shop and Im not saying that just because we have artwork there! The owners and staff are awesome...check them out on Facebook or in person - its a gem. They are located at 525 Main Street, across the street from the pharmacy.

Happy March, everyone! A belated Happy 2016 as well! I hope everyone is coming up with clever ways to keep occupied during these late winter months. It comes as no surprise to many of you that I have been rather unhurried, let us say, at posting new works and messages. I will try my best to do this, but with so many beautiful beaches and coastal areas to explore... I do have a few things to quickly mentio...n - many of you are asking if Fog Bank has a website. The answer is "No". I took down our old website as it was difficult to modify and I replaced it with this Facebook page. If I have to do all the work, it has to be quick and painless. What are our prices? Our prices range from smaller items, about $8-$15, such as ornaments, magnets, push pins, night lights, to small/medium canvasses or barn board $20-$85, to larger canvasses, paintings, barn board cut-outs $95+ (all of our pricing includes tax). Shipping is extra. Do we have an online shop? Not at the moment. The difficulty with an online shop is calculating shipping costs upon checkout. Shipping charges and restrictions vary greatly and I normally provide a quote for customer approval before final sale. I hate overcharging for shipping! How can you get in touch quickly? I may be tardier at messaging on Facebook - feel free any time to email [email protected] or call. On the same note as an online store, I am going to create a new album (untitled at the moment) on this page that will allow customers to browse through our actual available inventory, like an online shop. The pics will include a description as well as price. It will be updated in actual time. I will provide more details over the next few weeks. I have also been receiving many, many requests from customers looking for reclaimed/vintage/antique furniture and decor, - beautiful, unique pieces for homes and cottages. As a collector, I have quite a "stash" of these items already, some for sale, as well as pieces we have customized or restored. Working from this idea, a new sister business for Fog Bank will most likely be created. Keep you posted! Leanne

Fog Bank Studio was very privileged to collaborate with Jill Franklin, Owner, Iona Heights Inn and Dawn Madore, Designer, Update Interiors for creating original artwork to decorate the newly renovated and modernized boutique hotel, Iona Heights Inn. Each piece of artwork was individually customized to a specific color palate, dimension and arrangement to reflect the soothing, fresh, nautical atmosphere of the location. The Iona Heights Inn is located on the beautiful Bras dOr Lake in Cape Breton and is owned by Jill & Dan Franklin. Along with 21 guest rooms, the Inn boasts Jills Chocolate Cafe (yum!), The Little Dipper Boutique (Liquor & Convenience Store), the Frolic & Folk Pub & Grill and lots of fun tourist-y things to enjoy in the area.
