This year marks the 60th year of the Forest Legion Pipe Band proudly marching with the Legion Colour Guard to honor those that have sacrificed so much for our freedoms. Lest we forget.

June 6, 2020 Comrades We are well into a fourth month of social distancing, but with the nicer weather and lifting of some restrictions we are able to get out a...nd do more. Our Branch as all Legions remains closed though. Today a small group gathered at the Cenotaph to commemorate the 76th Anniversary of D Day, June 6, 1944, the beginning of the end of WWII. Our Padre Reverend Joanne MacOdrum led the service. Comrade Paul Hopper assisted by volunteers has placed the flags on the veterans’ graves. Paul has also been sending out cards and gift baskets to our members who are sick or have suffered the loss of a family member. Please let Paul know if there is anyone he should send a card to. Work has continued outside the Branch. The planters in front of the building have been planted thanks to the Forest Garden Club. Along the south side of the building stone has been placed and in the back two horseshoe pits have been constructed. We have not received any information to date as to what changes will be required inside before we reopen. Will social distancing mean re-organizing tables and chairs, Plexiglas protection at the bar, masks and gloves for the Bar Stewards, removing commonly handled items such as newspapers, flyers, magazines, etc.? 0ne thing is sure sanitizing often will be the new norm. Direction has come from Command that Branch elections of new officers have been suspended pending a return to normal operations.
