The Fort Edmonton Park enhancement project to create a larger than life historical experience for families is nearing completion! Due to COVID safety, Fort Edmonton Park is slightly delaying the opening of the park, originally scheduled for May Long Weekend. We’ve now set our sights on opening the doors on July 1, subject to AHS restrictions and guidelines. We’re excited for visitors to venture through the new 30,000 square-foot Indigenous Peoples Experience and to explore t...he wonders of the expanded Midway! Tickets to the park can be purchased online in the coming weeks. Due to COVID restrictions, the public will be required to pre-book their tickets. We are taking all COVID safety precautions and following all AHS guidelines to safely welcome you all back to the park. For more information on Fort Edmonton Park visit fortedmontonpark.ca

Opening this May Long Weekend, pending AHS COVID-19 regulations of course. Stay tuned for more Park updates!

Hello everyone, my name is Brittany! As part of our Métis Week Celebrations here at Fort Edmonton Park, I am taking over some social media today! Let’s spend some time together for you to get to know me a little better. I am Métis from Edmonton with family ties to the regions of Smoky Lake and Fort Vermilion, Alberta. I am proud to celebrate my Métis Heritage through my work and art. My time at Fort Edmonton Park started in 2015 as a placement for the Arts & Cultural Managem...ent program at MacEwan University, working on the Junior Indigenous Volunteer Program. This led to a position within the Public Interpretation team where I supported our Indigenous staff and volunteers, and strengthened our First Nations and Métis experiences for visitors. In 2018, I joined the Indigenous Relations department as the Indigenous Engagement Coordinator to support the development and community engagement for the Indigenous People Experience This year, I have come home to the Public Interpretation unit and I couldn’t be more excited! Coming from a background of program development, youth leadership, traditional arts, Indigenous histories, and my own cultural perspective I have found my niche within Fort Edmonton Park! I hope you grab some tea and follow along with me today as I share some of my favorite Métis memories at Fort Edmonton Park!

While this holiday season looks a little different, we wanted to share a seasonal snap from the past. Check out Jasper House, our reconstructed hotel on 1885 Street. Built in 1882 by James Goodridge, the original building still stands on Jasper Avenue today. Jasper House was the first brick building in the Edmonton settlement and featured a sizeable dining room with a varied menu. We can't wait to welcome our community back in 2021 - stay well and stay distanced for this December holiday season!
We are lucky to have this rockstar mentor on the #FortEdmontonPark team! Congratulations Renée Williams on this InterVivos announcement!
