I’ll NEVER stop loving dramatic finishes! Moody black & rich stain will bring it every time Some of my favourites, for sure! One of these pieces made for my most liked Instagram post in 2020 - can you guess which one? ... Post ‘em if you’ve got ‘em!

Did you have a merry Christmas? Pandemic notwithstanding, our Christmas here was slow-paced and cozy. My son and I have each other and we know that’s a lot I love using this week between Christmas and new year to reflect. Looking back on 2020, I’m amazed. What began this spring as 5 refinished pieces to sell, has amounted to 65 more pieces and countless new friends, clients and colleagues just 7 months later! I’ve truly enjoyed working with you this year. Thank you fo...r so warmly receiving my craft into your homes - it means more to me than you can imagine! For the last few days of this year, I’ll be posting some collages of this year’s pieces that I am so proud to have recreated and collaborated on. If you find your piece in the coming posts, I’d love if you posted a pic of it, refreshed and settled into its new life! Today’s post I’m celebrating the raw and raw/paint combo pieces from 2020...

Just completed this ombre custom mini and I gotta say I’m in love with this earthy, boho beachy vibe! Not my usual, but I really enjoy blending and playing with raw wood and colour! Behind every handmade item is a creative spirit, an inspired artisan & a brave entrepreneur woven into the story of each piece. Every one unique in design and character. Once upon a time, this was exactly all we had. And with industrialization, modern technology gifted us the ability to make more, with consistency & speed. Mass production certainly has its place in the world. And it’s nice to be part- as both a creator and buyer- of a resurgence of handmade craftsmanship in... these times. Balance is a beautiful thing. I can’t imagine this pandemic without today’s technology in my hand or my ultra comfy factory-made, super deep mattress! But I also can’t imagine being restricted to home without the warm inspiring beauty of surrounding handmade crafts and art. From the minds and hands of local artists, they’re all windows into someone’s creativity, how they saw the world in a moment - and they ultimately reflect back how I see myself in it, too. On a deeply personal note, I find such extravagance in that. And I know I’m not the only one. In the midst of all that is going on right now, how lucky are we? Handmade, in all of its romantic nostalgic glory, is the luxury we all need right now.
