reposting from @porshanality All Lives can’t matter if black lives and trans lives and the lives of womxn have yet to matter. To all the new followers: welcome. I’m genuinely glad you’re here. Know the vibe of my work. ... That All Lives Matter mess, doesn’t work here. I’m not here to make you comfortable. I’m here to speak the truth, share love, and to do the work that sets my people free. Who are my people? Black people. Womxn. Queer folx. Faith and Justice folx. Table flipping folx. The youth. The elders. The ancestors. People who like to celebrate black love. Poor people. Unemployed people. Folx with invisible disabilities. People who are healing. People who looking for community. Anti-Racist folx. I am a womxnist and I celebrate blackness and the fullness of humanity. I am not perfect. I don’t over explain myself on anything. If you are down for the truth telling, cool. Stick around. If not, you can leave as fast as you came. Either way, do your part. #justicework #soulwork #healing #blacklivesmatter #allivesmatterisbullshit #allblacklivesmatter #translivesmatter #queerlivesmatter #justiceforgeorgefloyd #justiceforbreonnataylor #justiceforninapop #justiceforahmaudarbery See more
Over the past few days I have watched Americans, and now Canadians respond first to the death of George Floyd and then the protests and riots. If I am honest, I avoided feeling anything about it. I have a Police officer in my family, and can convince myself I am removed from these struggles. I am not removed, none of us really are. At this point apathy is racism. Then I heard about the #amplifymelanatedvoices I felt this fit best for me for the coming week. Therefore I won’t be posting from June 1st-June 7th. This movement was started by @jessicawilson.msrd and @blackandembodied and intended to make room for black voices to be heard. Thank you @lisacatallo_counselling for sharing this. Like her I will be sharing content from Black activist and creators for the next week and not posting any of my own content.
The BC Government has stated that in-person Counselling Sessions will be allowed in Phase 2 of the COVID-19 re-opening plan. With this are some stipulations that Counsellors work to ensure that we, and our clients, are still observing certain measures to keep all involved safe. I am currently working to ensure I can accomplish these measures before booking in-person sessions again. It is my goal to have everything in place and communicated to my clients, and the public, before the end of May so that I might be able to see clients in my office again in June. Regardless of when I begin to book in-person sessions, I will continue to offer online video counselling sessions.
Lisa Catallo, MA, RCC, CCC - Counsellor always has great resources. We all need boundaries to have healthy relationships, most of us need better boundaries.

Today I was reading a news article about how to parent during the pandemic. The advice was to distract our children as much as possible: I almost screamed in frustration. I get it; we don't want our children to think about how scary it can be out there right now, and there is value in protecting them, but please do not avoid the emotions that they are most certainly feeling. Join me on April 14th for a seminar on how to have these discussions with our children. Register here: http://ow.ly/Ouof50zaEUO
It is our goal to equip all parents, but making the time to do this can be difficult. This seminar takes only 3 hours of your time and is packed full of useful information. This seminar will help you build your child's emotional intelligence, give you the tools to redirect emotional outbursts and encourage a healthy emotional bond with your child. In partnership with Vitality Collective we are working to provide support to our frontline workers, find more here: http://ow.ly/Dzbc50yYLor
Right now, our front line workers are under more pressure than ever before, and they need support. Project Heal(th) is one way I can give back, and I am proud to be a member of this project. If you know a front line worker or are one, head to http://ow.ly/Wkv050yYLmc to learn more.
Suddenly, parents found themselves homeschooling, working from home and having their children with them. These are times when our relationships with our children are not only the most important but also most strained. Take an evening and learn some new skills in how to respond to your child that will build an emotional connection and help them develop emotional intelligence at the same time. During this time of uncertainty, I am offering this webinar at a discounted price. Sign up now at: http://ow.ly/uJSI50yYL4v
