When we originally chose the finishes and furniture for this Office, my clients were hoping it would serve as a craft room for their children and an extra guest bedroom for a visiting brother and his children. Any guesses as to how many times it's been used for either of these purposes? You're right! None! Instead, thanks to my #AffordableStyle decorating mantra, the drawer units and countertops from IKEA have worked hard for the 2 professionals working full-time from ...this space, meeting with their colleagues and clients, daily. These "save" options have paired beautifully with the "splurge" area rug and cognac leather sofa options. This means the Office is as functional as it is picture-perfect! Photography: @kellyhorkoff

I feel the most satisfied with my work when I've helped clients solve a problem. These clients had a very dark Kitchen prior to this update and really wanted their whole main floor to feel lighter and more fresh. They knew this wasn't going to be their forever home, so we opted to have the cabinets painted. We replaced the light fixtures with airy chrome pieces and lightened up the countertop as well. The result is a much brighter home and a much happier family!!

I am a small business and when I say small, I mean party of one. I am by no means alone, though. I rely heavily on my industry partners for product and service, but more importantly, for advice and support. This is not an exhaustive list, but the people behind these businesses are a consistent presence in my work and some days, the only reason I'm still here. Thank you David, Andy, Katie, Jay, Jessica, and Kelly. You've all helped me in ways you probably don't even know about but I'm very grateful for you!

Still here, still working from home! I'm amazed at how so many small businesses have managed to (word of the year....) pivot and provide their products and services in new ways this year. I continue to hope and wish for your good, sustained health; physical, mental and financial.

Underestimating the number of decisions that need to be made when taking on a renovation or decorating project is partly why my industry is consistently so busy and why so many clients become frustrated with the process. For our #ModernFarmhouse Powder Room, we wanted to choose a few special, unique features and finishes. The most important element in this room is one you can't see; communication. The wall hung plumbing fixtures and cabinetry, as well as the vessel s...ink are all out of the ordinary selections, meaning, the inclusion of these unique pieces needed to be communicated time and again during construction. The plumbing showroom had to remember to communicate this information to the contractor, who had to remember to communicate with the plumber and cabinet maker, who had to make adjustments for where to add the holes for the fixtures and how high to make the vanity so the trim, countertop, sink and faucet could be accommodated.
